Ding..Ding
The fight bell rang and every solider jumped to there feet as the bout began.
“You go this one in the bag Stevenson.!”
“Beat his ASS Beckett!”
You couldn’t tell from the yells taunts and threats that this was just an exhibition fight between two friends. Cassandra had spent her time at Outpost Echo 42 doing everything that the rest of the guys were doing but she had never stepped foot into the boxing ring for a real fight. The guys all said that if her face got messed up then they would lose the only thing worth looking since they were out in the middle of no where. The only thing that was different now was that the biggest of them all had gotten tired of Cassie constantly sucker punching him from around corners “since he was to scared to get in the ring for a real fight.”
The two fighters circled one another throwing quick punches to determine the others reach and reaction time. With each swing they grew closer and closer to the inevitable first contact. The tension in the room thicken so much that for a second it seemed to silence everyone.
Cassandra studied Stevenson’s every move, the way he went right when she went left, if she stepped forward he would stand his ground, if she moved back so would he. She’d seen all that she could from the first few punches she’d thrown. She knew it was time to take a chance. She stepped into him on his right and aimed a right cross. Stevenson feigned left and read the punch so he dodged low, that’s when he saw his opening. Cassie had dropped her guard on her left to extend the reach of her punch so now she was wide open. Stevenson knew all he needed was a clean uppercut to the body so he stepped in; at the same time Cassie’s body surged with adrenaline and every muscle tensed in anticipation.
