Malak made his way through the Athena's Wrath, seeing the entrance to the bridge at the end of the corridor. He briefly noticed the suspicious looks some of the crew members were still giving him. But it quickly fell out of notice to him. As long as he got paid, he didn't much care what Zeon thought of him.
Taking a final few steps, he entered the bridge proper. He scanned the room for a moment before he spotted his employer. Malak noted she looked a bit busy with other officers on the bridge. This of course didn't deter him from walking over and interrupting her. "Colonel Wu, I believe we needed to talk about my payment?"

2 Day from Earth, Purgatorio Athena's Wrath Chivvay II-class, ZMF 2nd Resupply Fleet Bridge
Colonel Veronica Wu heard the doors to the bridge of the Athena's Wrath open as she handed back a requisition form to a yeoman. It is ironic that seventy-five percent of a battle depends on logistics, ten percent on the battle plan, another ten percent on the people you command, and the last five percent on sheer luck. Fortunately, the foresight of the late Jinyuan had allowed her to better collect the water materiel necessary to bring the Earth Federation to its knees.
The colonel turned in her command chair. "Ah, Mr. Lazarevich," greeted Veronica," yes I believe it is time to talk to you about your payment."
She gestured to a junior officer who then disappeared off the bridge. Veronica rose to her feet as she took a step towards Malak. "Your performance in our attack against the former Wyatt Fleet allowed us to destroy their forces completely. You have to forgive me if I sound skeptical. Our recent experience with independent factions... had me concerned."
The door to the bridge opened again and the junior officer from before is now carrying a briefcase. He handed it over to Veronica who nodded in acknowledgment. "You outperformed your competitors, Mr. Lazarevich," continued Veronica," which is an opportunity they would never have again."
The colonel extended the briefcase towards Malak. "A bonus for a job well-done. The supply officer in the hangar bay will hand over the payment we agreed on. Take good care of it, it is one of Zeon's finest."
The woman paused thoughtfully before looking Malak in the eye. "I was wondering if you are... available for further tasks?"

Malak took the briefcase with out comment and gave the Colonel a once over. 'One of those proper types eh? Well at least they're easier to work with.' Malak gave her a sardonic smile. "I'm up for anything Colonel, assuming the pay is right." He gestured with his free hand. "All you need to do Colonel is give my the details and worry about paying me. I'll take care of the rest."

Veronica Wu gave a half smile as she handed Malak Lazarevich a white envelope. "Here is your next mission. You may find this one more entertaining than the last. Or more difficult, if there is such a thing for a man of your abilities."
This felt weird to her. Traditionally, Veronica is to charge in battle in a blaze of glory. But war these days demand more tact than guts. It is a good thing that Veronica is fast learner. Her husband and his brother would be better at this.
She watched as the gun-for-hire take the envelope. "Of course the reward would be larger should you succeed. It would sadden me if you decline. Deeply. I will give you 24 hours to consider and prepare for this assignment. Let me know your price by then."

Malak glanced down at the envelope for a moment. "As I said it doesn't matter what the job is, as long as the pay is good. I'll take the job, and as for payment. Well I'm sure we can work something out." He pocketed the envelope and turned to leave the bridge. "Well Colonel unless you need anything else from me, I have a job to get ready for."
