The battle of Jaburo was a loss. Despite the plan presented by the Red Comet, Commander Aznable, and our precision strike deep into the heart of the enemy, we were repelled by the fresh reinforcements deep within the cavernous maw of Jaburo.
To say it was an amazing sight would be an understatement. The sheer resources that the Earth Federation was able to put into their supreme Headquarters and the defenders that they could roll out. Even with the plan, we were fighting a war of attrition, and in this battle, we could not win. A gauntlet of defenses, including sea mines forced our resources to the breaking point.
My team suffered heavy losses, and once again, I am left with just Yuri as the sole remaining survivor. His Acquy had to be loaded into the Avalon first, as it had suffered extensive damage during the assault into the base.
Personal note: I have to remember to send my condolances to their families. Privates Adrienne Gray and Andre Polanco. Both served with distinticion and honor befetting soldiers of the Principality. I know that Gray's family resides in Zum City, but Polanco I have to track down. From what he had said, it sounded like he came from Side 6. Must confirm later.
Those GMs, we had seen them before, but never in such numbers. It was as though all the resources of the Federal Forces had been diverted from keeping their aging Tin Cods in the air, and are now in full scale mobile suit deployment. Is this the face of war now? I certainly hope so. An age which screams within my very soul. It's funny how history seems to be cyclical. The age of gunpowder heralded the end of close quarters combat as the main form.
And now the age of the Mobile Suit has brought it back, combining all the forms of war into one elegant and deadly machine. Even my Spriggan is a berserker in the way it fights, claw and fist with even a bit of artillery support from the rockets, just the way I like it.
Seeing Commander Aznable in action was amazing, and easily one of my best experiences during this war. And being able to keep up with him in combat during the raid into Jaburo against the enemy MSMs and ASW, something I hope gets noted by the high command later. Poor Brennan, having to have his Emerald Titan towed by the MSM teams, I imagine it must have been degrading and humiliating for him.
How pleasant for an SS officer to be treated as such. They may be in command when they are sent down, but with how much they are in thrall to Gihren Zabi, I have to wonder that if Lord Gihren chose to make a coup within the Principality, which side would they fall on? Makes me nervous to be in the task force, but orders are orders.
I never thought I would enjoy being below the ocean, but there is something soothing about it, something that I had never experienced before until I acquired this Z'Gok from the Jukon in the arctic. And now, I don't think I can leave. When this war ends, maybe I'll take the time to explore the Earth, see what it has to offer.
Hopefully this war will end with Zeon victorious, winning our independence and proving once and for all that the Federation government may not be the best for Space. After all, how can those so far away know how to govern those furthest from our homeworld?
I leave this log post with a thought: Can we on Earth win this war, taking the burden off of our comrades-in-arms in space? I hope so. We've lost Lord Garma, and our resources seem to be dwindling. But I am left with hope after Lord Gihren's funeral speech. Patriotism swells, and perhaps, we can rise from these ashes.
Sieg Zeon.
