Technical and Historical Data The Flatmouse is a holdover from pre-UC days and should be respected soley based on the level of technical complexity within its sleek airframe. Fully three different types of engines power the Flatmouse and an advanced optical camera and radar package made the Flatmouse the most expensive non-prototype plane in the Earth Federation's air force. At low altitudes the Flatmouse relies on the conventional turbojet engines not unlike those seen on commercial airliners. And as it gains speed, the airflow to the turbojets are gradually bypassed to a ramjet that allows the Flatmouse to reach speeds in excess of Mach 4. Its highest operational ceiling, however, is achievable only when it utilizes its rocket motors although this is not sustainable for very long. Still, operating in the upper atmosphere with its ramjets allows the Flatmouse the ability to be anywhere in the world in several minutes, and as a result of the destruction of Federation spy satellites by the Zeon, the Flatmouse's importance has been reignited.
