Technical and Historical Data
Designed around the same time as the Gelgoog, the Gyan was Zimmads new high performance close combat model, designed to work in tandem with their long range combat use Rick Dom.

With its abilities focused mostly around close combat, the Gyan was reasonably quick and nimble, and boasted heavier armor than most Zeon mobile suits. While it did not have any internal armaments or a reactor strong enough to power an actual beam rifle, a number of armaments were created specifically with the Gyan in mind. A large beam sword, with a higher power output and wider "blade" than the best Federation beam sabers, as well as a special shield that armed a flotilla of short range missiles that were very powerful, but compact enough to hide in the Gyans inconspicuous shield.

While it was chiefly designed for close combat, the Gyan could make use of medium range machineguns and shotguns. However, it was designed to work in tandem with Rick Doms, charging into the enemy lines while the faster and more heavily armed Doms provided fire support.

Much like the Gelgoog, the Gyan could be refitted as needs arose, simply by exchanging the units backpack. A high thrust HMT model equipped with external fuel tanks was the primary variant, though a more heavily armed Cannon model with twin ballistic shoulder cannons could be used in an emergency.

In the end the Gelgoog won Zeons second generation mobile suit contract, and only a handful of Gyan models were made.
