Technical and Historical Data With a need to cut costs and streamline their military, the Earth Federation chose to adopt a new aircraft that could fill the roles of the Tin Cod and the Fly Manta while being an overall improvement over the two. The Core Fighter was used as a starting point, though obviously it was modified from there to suit the requirements of mass production and cost effectiveness. It owes its lower speed compared to the Tin Cod to its added bulk, but in return has a higher mission survivability rating as a result of its increased armor and redundant systems.
