As Zeon went through the One Year War it found itself in need of construction mobile suits on bases, so that combat units could stay on the front lines. While many Zaku Workers remained in use on bases, an interim unit was designed completely out of spare parts, the MS-06V Zaku Tank. One of the most frankenstinian units of the war, the Zaku Tank was a dedicated construction unit, half Zaku and half Magella. It could in emergencies be used in combat, and was at least partially effective against infantry, still mounting the Magellas heavy anti-infantry machinegun. Zaku Tanks remained in use after the war at Kimberlite, and were even reposessed for use in some EFGF bases.  |
