The Librarians body laid cold, stiff, and slightly rotten on the ground. He was rapped in cloth that the local villagers had provided to keep the body covered so the disfigured corpses didn’t show. They were grieving the loss of their friend and neighbor who had been killed several days ago. They finally receive a donation for a tombstone and volunteer to dig the grave. Ironically the person who providing this service was the very person who killed him, Old Man Jenkins. Jenkins decided it was only fair to give the man a funeral seeing as how he had killed the poor sole and stole his library. He thought “might as well give him a proper burial rather than let him rot in some tavern basement”. Jenkins deployed his newly acquired companion Gordon (The Silverback Bear) to dig the hole and set the tombstone. After the hole was dug and the body set Jenkins offered anyone to say there last respects to the deceased. He walked away during this period to leave the towns people alone seeing as how his relationship with them is currently sour after the recent murder attempt of the town blacksmith. After the crowd had passed on Jenkins had Gordon fill in the grave. He wondered if the town would be upset at his holding the funeral but all seemed to go well so he figured he had repaid his debt to the town on this matter. He inscribed the stone “Here Lies The Grand Librarian” then went off to collect his reward for a service well preformed. He was a bit skeptical at first if they would even give him the reward but an awkward silence and a few looks of disgust later he had his books and was on his way back to the shop. |
