"Well, well, well, what have we here?" Old Man Jenkins quickly looked up from his attempts at treating his apprentice's wounds. Ball Punion, would-be mayor of Eco, had gathered his goon squad once more to harass the elderly scholar. He was so tired though...he hadn't had a chance to rest after his last two encounters with the craftsman's thugs. Jenkins would have liked to have thrown up a spell or to cross blades with the riff-raff, but he lacked the strength for battle and chose instead to run. Ball Punion watched his apprentices chase after Jenkins, but chose not to follow. The scholar had taken off for the farms, leaving his followers behind in favor of protecting a cargo of items, likely magic spells. With luck, the old man would be caught and more of those spells would be used to further Ball's plans for Eco. If he somehow escaped...well...at least he was out of town. Jenkins ran as fast as he could through town, tipping over pots, waste bins, whatever he could as he hurried away from his pursuers. Shots whizzed past as the gang fired from the hip, taking any shot they could get off as they navigated around Jenkins' obstacles. Suddenly, Jenkins felt a scorching pain in his side. He reached down to feel the wound and found blood; he'd been hit and the shot had gone right through him. The scholar staggered for a moment, fighting to keep on his feet. He turned a corner as numbness began to spread out of the wound and sapped his strength. Soon, he could go no further, falling to his knees. He fell forward into a ditch, gently pushing aside grasses and reeds as he tumbled. There he lay completely hidden from sight as Ball Punion's minions came to the end of the trail and withdrew, having found no sign on their prey. Outcome: Old Man Jenkins escapes to the Farms!
