It was a beautiful day in the capitol of the European Empire as several high-ranking members of the army as well as many of the empire's upper class turned out for the demonstration of one of the Reichsguard's newest weapons, an improvement to the venerable and reliable GiNN. A representative of the army stood before the assembled crowd, explaining the improvements they had designed and implemented. While he spoke, Jack Verse sat in the GiNN Assault Type's cockpit to make sure he was ready to demonstrate the suit. Several mechanics had stuck their heads in, checking computer systems and making last-minute adjustments so the demonstration would go smoothly.

"He's winding up his speech, Jack," the hangar boss radioed. "Start heading out there."

A loud siren chased away the last of the mechamen so the GiNN could move without fear of crushing someone. A second GiNN, Jack's wingman, followed close behind carrying several weapons. The crowd stood and applauded for the appearance of the new suit, which Jack brought to a halt behind the speaker's platform.

"Soldat Verse has been selected to pilot the new model," the speaker explained. "Because he is an expert marksman. He will be demonstrating two mobile suit weapons developed in conjunction with the Assault Type GiNN, a new 27mm Assault Rifle and a beam pistol of our design."

Jack was handed the new rifle first, taking a moment to get a feel for it as he turned towards a set of target styled to look like Zakus and Leos. As a thick pane of bulletproof glass rose to protect the audience from stray shots and discharged cartridges, Jack lined his sights up with the first target, firing when he heard the all-clear chime. The first five-round burst slammed into a Zaku-styled dummy, sending chunks of metal flying. The GiNN turned and fired again, this time ripping apart a Leo dummy.

"Switch weapons before you run out of targets," Jack's wingman suggested, handing over the beam pistol.

Jack set aside the rifle, taking the beam pistol into a two-handed grip. With a flash, the weapon sent a beam drilling through the chest of a dummy before two more penetrated its face.

"As you can," the announcer declared. "Our beam weapons are as powerful as any fielded by the Americans, though at the moment their efficiency is insufficient for our mass-production needs."

Jack raised the GiNN's arms and fired on the last dummy, sending a pair of rocket-propelled grenades and two streams of gunfire slamming into its chest. The dummy toppled over to the delight of the civilians in the crowd, though Jack wasn't as impressed. Those dummies were likely hollow and built from cheap materials.

"Our last event of the demonstration will be a small duel between the test model and a standard-model GiNN to demonstrate how well they perform against each other," the announcer said, to Jack's surprise. "They have been armed with live rounds to demonstrate the Assault Type's improved armor."

"Did you know about this?" Jack asked accusing.

"First I've heard of it," his wingman answered.

The Assault Type was suddenly handed a sword and a standard machinegun from a CGuE as his wingman was given similar weapons. The white officer suits quickly dashed off, not wanting to be caught in a crossfire.

"Alright, light-contact spar," Jack declared. "First one of us gets shot, we switch to swords and no aiming for vitals."

"Affirmative," this wingman answered.

The two GiNNs opened fire on each other as they jumped to the side. Jack ducked under the incoming burst as he tacked his wingman, who had run behind a hangar for cover. Jack briefly considered firing a grenade, but held back, not wanting to cause serious damage anywhere, and opted to chase after. As he prepared to round the corner, a burst of machinegun fire lashed out, slamming into the Assault Type's chest.

"As you can see, the Assault Type can take a full burst to its torso without damage."

As Jack switched out for his sword, he noted that while the armor had held, it had also taken a decent hit. Too many hits like that would easily slam through the armor. Jack hefted the sword and rushed the standard GiNN, though his opponent ducked to the side and swung his own blade. The two struck, sending a smattering of sparks across the tarmac. The dramatic demonstration sent the civilians into a flutter, though the military minds began to mutter amongst themselves.

"Though the Assault Type has reduced mobility on the ground, its armor and firepower make up for it," the announcer quickly added. "It is also able to use the Guul flight platform without difficulty!"

Jack pushed his opponent's blade back and fired one of his shoulder-mounted gatling guns, taking the other GiNN in the shoulder as Jack charged. Though lacking Newtype powers, he could almost feel the announcer's relief as he turned the tide of the fight in his favor, quickly chopping into his foe's arm to end their battle.

"You cheated!" Jack's wingman remarked. "You weren't supposed to use your guns after I hit you!"

"Just smile for the generals and I'll buy you a beer later," Jack said, waving to the crowd.

Outcome: Jack Verse wins
Jack Verse: 4 Xp, Repairing 1
