Aboard Task Force Eagle's Baker, the Union Flag pilots sat around on standby, waiting intensely. Out of all of them, Michael Haley sat as the odd man out, flying the next-generation Mobile Suit Overflag. While barely a year old, the Union Flag was increasingly outperformed by this machine, but none of that mattered as alarms started sounding off. "All combat crew to combat stations, pilots board your Flags now. I repeat, all combat crew to combat stations, pilots board your Flags now."
As everyone looked at one another, they knew it was time as they rushed out. Ensign Michael Haley was the last one to leave, as an officer stopped him on the way out. "Ensign, the Overflag project is being looked at intensely now. You have to go above and beyond what you showed at California Base," the officer stated, as Michael saluted back. "Sir, I'll do my best," Michael states as he runs off to the hangar. Looking back at the young pilot, the officer shook his head. You have no idea...you'll have to go beyond your best.
Boarding the Overflag, the black fighter MS was moved to the catapult first. "Ensign Haley, you'll be our lead on this one. The Japanese forces have launched 3 Invasion fleets at least and one submarine group to attack the coastline. The 4th Canadian Guard is already under attack. Our job is to reinforce them," the comm officer stated, as Michael prepared the Overflag for the engagement. He didn't need to be told what would happen if they failed, and the odds were clearly against them.
"Roger that, Ensign Michael Haley, Overflag, launching!" the ensign states as the fighter rolled out and into the soon-to-be blood red sky.
