Mobile Suit Gundam: Living Legends RPG
Rules
MENU
Welcome to Mobile Suit Gundam: New Era RPG. I'm your official webmaster, Dimitri, and I, being the webmaster, control what goes on in this play by e-mail RPG. If you don't like to roleplay, than I suggest not even joining, unless it's to get better at roleplaying by watching a few of the other members.

I've been in several play by e-mail Gundam RPGs (and other types as well), including the reknown After Era, the excellent, but short lived Turn A, and the inspiring Gundam Cataclysm. Therefore, I know a fair bit about play-by-e-mail RPGs (from this point on reffered to just PBEM), and also I have a good share of Gundam knowledge. If you want to join this RPG, it is recommended that you read
ALL of the rules, though veteran RP'ers may skip through a few sections, if they wish.

The rules have been divided into sections. If you don't understand something in the rules, re-read the section it's in. If you still don't get it read it a few times. If after a few tries, you STILL don't get it, e-mail me and I'll tell you. Simple? Good. I apologize about the size of the rules, but a few things need to be explained in depth.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[ Actual Rules ]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The actual rules of the RPG are somewhat simple to get used to, if you're a civil minded person in real life. They're (for the most part) rules you should follow in everyday life.

1. Do not harass any member of the RPG or me. This can get you banned from the chat and message board. If you do it continuously, you will be removed from the RPG.

2. There are to be no sexual, racist, or religious slurs on the Out of Character boards or in the chat room. A little in roleplaying can be accepted since it IS roleplaying.

3. Keep the amount of swearing to a minimum on the OOC boards and in the chat. Constant swearing annoys the jello out of me. A little in roleplaying is fine, but don't take it too far. Definately stay away from the f-bomb.

4. I am the webmaster, and thusly you pay tribute to me. No, you don't have to lick my toes, but treat me with respect and I shall do the same... usually....

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[ E-mailing ]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This RPG, as explained in the introduction, is a PBEM RPG. You e-mail me, the webbie, what actions you would like to do. I'll write the battles or events accordingly. The e-mail for the RPG is:

msg_ll@hotmail.com

All gameplay e-mails should be sent there. Any gameplay e-mails sent to my personal account will be deleted and the sender will lose 5 VP or $30,000, depending on which I feel like taking away. There are a few rules to e-mailing, that you must follow.

1. The e-mail deadline is 6:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. Why 6:00 EST? 'Cause that's what time works for me. Any e-mails sent after the deadline and before the update is finished will be ignored and deleted. If you can't make it to a computer in time for the deadline, you may send in an action any time after the update is finished and it will be counted as an action for tommorow.

2. In your e-mail you MUST include both your pilot name and your mobile weapon's name, otherwise I'll ignore the e-mail.

3. You may only send in one e-mail per day. One. More than zero, less than two. ONE. If you send more than one, all of your e-mails will be deleted.

4. The only e-mails you may send in on the weekends are questions, even though I probably won't be able to get back to you until Monday anyway. If you send in an action on the weekend I will take away 10 VP and $30,000.

5. Do NOT send in actions in advance. By this I mean don't e-mail me on Thursday, telling me what you want to do on Monday.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[ Updating ]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The RPG will run
three and a half days a week. By a half I mean, I'll update all of the joining applications that I got over the weekend on Monday.

Monday    ---   Semi-Open
Tuesday   ---   Open
Wednesday   --- Open
Thursday   --- Open

Friday   ---   Closed
Saturday --- Closed

Sunday   ---   Closed

Hee hee... red, green, and yellow... hee hee... ummm... anyway, I may occasionally miss an update. If I do miss one, chances are its because my internet is not working properly, or its having trouble running Geocities (neither of these happen to me often, though they still happen). Don't rant and rave if I miss one. Life goes on.

[ Basic Actions ]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are three types of basic actions here. They are battling, traveling, and shop interaction. Each of them are self-explanatory, but I feel a sensleless urge to go into detail anyway.

Battling - The types of battles are listed below.

1. Ambush - Very common among beginners and those with VP, an Ambush takes place when a mobile suit attacks another at unawares. Obviously for this type of battle only the attack needs to e-mail me.

2. Assault - This form of attack is for teams or groups only. Basically it is an ambush, only on a larger scale. A group of assailants attack either a single target or a group. If more than one target is being attacked then all of the targets need to be in the same location. All attackers must e-mail me. If an attacker doesn't e-mail me, the battle still does take place, however he/she will not be in it.

3. Hit and Run - As its name implies, the attacker goes in, inflicts damage, and hightails it out of there before it gets hurt. The attackers identity is never fully revealed, though hints may be given.

4. Duel: A duel is a fair battle. A duel can contain any number of people against any number of people. ALL oarticipants must e-mail me. Also, your characters may 'spar' which is just a less intense duel.

5. Deathmatch: A 1 on 1 fight to the death. Both participants must e-mail me.

6. Siege: A form of the installation attack, a siege being an attempt to destroy the base.

7. Installation Attack: Same as above only with the combatants aiming to take over the base and not wipe it out.

VP rewards depend on how you do and how much danger you were in. You aren't likely to get more than 2 VP if you're someone with say 100 VP doing a Hit and Run on someone with 1 VP. I decide the amount of VP given, but it, as stated above, may vary. Here is a basic scale of VP amount given:

Ambush - 9 VP
Assault - Depends
Hit and Run - Maximum of 4 VP
Duel - 12 VP
Deathmtach - 20
Siege - Depends, generally 15
Installation Attack - Depends, generally 10

Travelling
The second of the basic actions is travelling. You can travel anywhere listed on the map, as long as that location is either uninhabited, is neutral, or is owned by your side or team, unless you wish to try fruitlessly to wrest control of said area. No one controls Earth, but the Earth Federation has the strongest foothold there. Check the travelling page for more details on where you can go and such.

Travelling to a base adds on another day of traveling. Let's say you were in Earth's Orbit and wanted to travel to a Feddie base on Earth. It would be the time to travel to Earth + an extra day to get to the actual base.

Buying
Buying is the thrid and final of the basic actions. Obviously if you want to buy something, you need to have enough money for it. Buying is very simple. In your e-mail that tells me you are purchasing something, you need to include what you are buying, how much money you have, how much the item you are buying costs and, how much money you will have left over. I personally hate math, so you get to do it for me. However, don't try to trick me, as I will be checking to make sure that you subtracted correctly.

You may sell possesions to other players, but NOT back to the shop. You cannot sell weapons from your mobile suit, because it just gets too confusing. You may also trade items with players, though not weapons.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Repairing and Death]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When you live in a world were giant robots are a rather common sight, death is inevitable. Fortunately I've sort of subtracted from realism to make it easier for the both of us. If you die you can't do anything at all in the RPG for 5 days. You won't lose any money, but you will lose about 1/3 of your VP. Also, you need to send in a new character.

If you don't get back to me within 2 days after the 5 day period, I will remove your mobile up from the roster and your suit will be up for grabs.

Repairing is unlogically measured in days. It is assumed that your character or repairmen only work for a certain amount of time each day, so to make sure you aren't out on the battlefield too early. You cannot battle while you are repairing but you can buy and (somehow) travel.

If you fight at a friendly base or colony, when fighting your repairs take only half as long.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sides
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your Side, aside from offering you a paycheck, may give you orders from time to time. The Sides offered in the RPG are as follows:

Earth Federation: They are corrupt to the core, but also the most influential of the Sides. As an EF officer you'll start with 300,000 credits and recieve 50,000 every week after.

Duchy of Zeon:
The ol' geezers are still fightin' for independance and are still doing a good job of it. Zeeks start with the amount as the Feddies and recieve the same as well. Plus they're the only Side that can say "Sieg Zeon!"

Crossbone Vanguard:
The old fashion power hailing from the Asteroid Belt, the CV is still a monarchy and a damn good one, too. They are rich with resources so CV pilots start with 300,000 and gain an extra 100,000 for a salary every week. They start on the moon.

Organization of the Zodiac:
The most secretive of the Sides, as well as the most cunning. Don't expect too many orders from them, they'd rather handle things with their legions of mobile dolls. Since they are backed by the wealthy Rommafeller Organization OZ pilots start with 300,000 and gain 50,000 every week as a salary. They start on the moon.

Rogue: Perhaps the most diverse of the Sides, Rogues are often considered the noble warriors of the era. They fight for no cause but their own. They start with 600,000 but recieve no weekly pay. They may choose to start on either the moon or Earth. Also they recieve instant at any colony because the people are ready to help them.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Taking Control of Territory
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Teams may take control of any planet except for Earth and the Moon, as well as any of the Sides. To take control of a planet, the team doing so must have three bases on the planet, and no other bases may exist.

It is similar to control a Side, except you must have either two Asteroid Fortresses or two Colonies there.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------VP and Upgrading
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
VP is basically your skill level, except, while important and a deciding factor during battles, doesn't mean you will definately win or lose. Check the Battling section above for a basic VP chart.

Upgrading occurs first when you reach 100 VP and recieve more than three days damage during a battle. You cannot do anything except buy from the shop or travel on a ship while you are upgrading. Upgrading takes 8 days. Most suits, unless they have more than two, will only upgrade twice. If your suit doesn't have an upgrade I'll make one.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Switching Suits
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tired of the suit you chose? You can switch suits on the first Saturday of each month. However you can only switch suits once!
