Matsumi Nakogame ambushing Fuyutsuki Mamami

Nakogame narrowed his eyes and attempted make sense of the situation.
He'd been tracking the girl for nearly an hour through the haunted woods of Furisaka.  What was her name?  Nakogame furrowed his  brow, and quickly dismissed the thought.  He crouched
and continued to follow the girl's confused footsteps through the fallen snow.

Mamami sneezed.  The forest sneezed back.  Mamami shot a glance to her sides.  She was greeted only by the silence of the falling snow. She slowly turned around.  Still nothing.  What was going on?  An explosion thudded in the distance, and Mamami widened her eyes as
a musket ball whizzed past her head.

Nakogame gritted his teeth.  A second sneeze had thrown his shot off.

Mamami spun around and easily spotted the smoke from the explosion
dispersing above.  In one fluid motion, she unsheathed her tachi and broke into a dash.
She could now see her opponent: He had drawn some sort of firearm and
was calmly kneeling 50 yards from her current position.  He was a ninja, no doubt.

Nakogame solemnly raised a single pistol brace.  He would not miss this time.

Mamami smiled and brought her tachi forward.  She slashed downward,
catching the ninja offguard.  Nakogame raised his pistol brace in panic.
This stopped the tachi, and afforded Nakogame the opportunity to draw
his second pistol brace and fire it point-blank into Mamami.
The musket ball struck her in the shoulder.  Mamami dropped her knee's and desperately tried to control the bleeding.

Nakogame breathed heavily and gathered his musket, unwilling to inflict more damage on an unarmed opponent.

Matsumi Nakogame ambushes Yokoi Gunpei

Nestled at the foot of the Dewa mountains, a more peaceful night was taking Furisaka this day. The town was resting relatively safely, not because their curse had been lifted, but perhaps the questors who had returned from the cave were on its good side now, as if the curse were temporarily abating while they were there. Nonetheless, the respite was very well appreciated, and perhaps even deserved.

However, Yokoi Gunpei, the down to Earth, caring man that he was, seemed to have no end to his labor. He was walking in a thin alleyway in the dark, thinking to himself about his mission. Suddenly a shingle fell from the roof above, and Gunpei raised his head only to see a ninja, black headband flowing in the slight breeze, pointing the biggest firearm at Yokoi that the simple monk had ever seen.

"Ahh, it seems I've been watched. Hello up there! Might I ask your name?" said Yokoi, half meaning his words and half trying to buy time. The man could easily shoot his head off at any moment.

"... I'm Matsumi Nakogame. A ninja from Nagasake." answered Nakogame, rather caught off guard.

"Really? All the way from there? What would one such as you have to do with me?" responded Yokoi, taking a half step back and relaxing himself to make him look un-threatening, butflattening his right palm at the same time.

"I'm training. I heard you lead a group through a cursed cave, so I'm going to defeat you to test my skill." said Nakogame. He'd never been this social in an ambush before...

"Ahh. So, I take it you don't mean to kill me, then?" said Yokoi, slightly throwing his voice in a certain pitch. Body language and tone of voice were excellent ways to take the pressure out of a situation.

"Well... No, I guess I'm not... But still, I have you well within my range. You can't escape." said Nakogame, no longer sure of himself.

"Tell me, have you anything to do with those who killed the great Yoshitsune?" said Yokoi, smiling as if he were speaking to a dear friend. Nothing about his aura matched what he had just said, but Nakogame responded as if they were exchanging drinks at an inn.

"No, why?"

"Oh... No reason."

At that moment Yokoi Gunpei jumped backwards, landing on his back as he thrust his palm outwards, a mystic wave of force emanating from it and flying straight at the ninja. Matsumi Nakogame's Jezail shell landed squarely in Gunpei's right leg, tearing the soft tissue to pieces but thankfully missing the bone. The force punch, having spread out somewhat as it reached the Ninja, did little damage when it hit, but was enough of a surprise to send Nakogame backwards, promptly making him fall off the roof of the building and rather unceremoniously black out on the dirt below. In the morning, however, no one would see the ninja wake up and dissappear...
