The Spriggan shuddered as the beam weaponry of the Gundam pierced the armor of the Z'Gok E. Blood spattered the plasteel visor of his normal suit, as Alec looked at the broken screens of the monitor. The various wreckage of GMs littered the snow covered field of the mine.
He saw the movements of the Gundam pulling the grenade. It was a brief moment of clarity, as he lurched the Z'Gok forwards, slamming a clawed manipulator over the hand of the Gundam. Alec grunted as the Z'Gok struggled to overpower the federal ace.
"Glad to see they take me seriously." The controls kicked back as the two monsters on the ice battled to control the grenade. Zlec had to hand it to the Federal Forces, they could create some serious mobile suits. Something like that would have a serious reactor. It was then that he saw the famed Big Tray known as the Big Sioux. A smile curled his lips, and a plan began to form.
His breaths were wet and ragged, and he knew it was the end. He was the last remaining member of the Zeon Terrestrial Assault Force, and the enemy 87th had come all the way this far north to end him. At least they had the common decency to send a Gundam after him.
"Damn. At least... Akira got away..." Alec looked up at the charging monster of a Gundam, and bit his lower lip. He started charging towards it, armor getting plinked off of his mobile suit as the vulcans opened fire. The monitors fizzled out as the suit started taking more damage.
He was glad that he always had the booster unit equipped. A flick of a switch, and the powerful thruster erupted to life. The amphibious mobile suit powered forwards, tackling the Gundam, just as he had practiced against Sebastian, and sending them both careening into the enemy Big Tray. Even with the gee-straps, his head slammed into the control panel of the Z'Gok E.
He thought it was over, his vision falling into the blackness of a void. Maybe, just maybe, his war was over. But the vibration of an explosion awoke him from unconciousness. The IFF display showed the loss of Gilgamos' Zock. He truly was alone. And pinning the enemy Gundam against the famed Big Sioux.
The batteries of the MPCs were drained, and he knew there was no escape from this situation. The Avalon was gone, Laurentia had been leveled, and he was fighting a losing war. The only things left were the full load of rockets in the VLS.
Boss... you can let go. You fought the good fight. Alec looked up, as the face of Yuri came to him. He recognized that this was something that happened right before death.
Captain, you led us well, now it's time for us to help you. Just let go, and we'll see you soon. Nivinia smiled, her eyes bright and teeming with the vibrancy of life that he so cared for. Behind his teammates, he sa the standing and uniformed visages of Sascha and Viktor. The command team from the Decimator. They smiled and nodded in approval.
Until the final face. The beautiful face of Laurentia, the namesake of the mine. She looked beautiful as the first time he saw her, back at the academy.
"Laurentia?" He asked looking directly at her. "Why are you here?"
She smiled, extending a hand to him, hovering over the trigger of the VLS. Aleksander. It's time to stop fighting. I'm here... to take you home. You fought the good fight, and you really are a hero. But it's time to stop. Take my hand.
Alec smiled at her, and reached for her hand. His finger pulled the trigger, and the VLS tubes launched directly point blank into the Gundam. The mobile suit exploded, engulfing the Z'Gok E, causing Alec's unit to almost simutaneously exploding. The massive nuclear reactors blew, tearing apart the Big Sioux.
Snow melted and gave way beneath into the waves, taking the Warmonger and the ship into the seas. War changed him.
And War claimed Him.

I thought that was a given.
I'm also giving thought to joining as an officer in an amphibous suit.

Not really - Veronica doesn't seem the type to just abandon her troops.

I've been told that my action to hide the ZEF, Jinyuan Industries, and Veronica Wu seem to be out of character. What do you people think?

Although the game itself is officially over, we have some final festivities to keep you guys entertained through this last week.
#1 - While the Zeeks have either surrendered to the Federation or gone into hiding, we still have to see what happened to the EF player characters. Sometime this week, I'd like all of our EF members to email me and choose one of the following options.
Zeon members who Surrendered (not Hid) this week can do the same.
A - You may remain in the standard EF military.
B - You may remain in the military, but join the Titans when it appears in 0083. Former Zeon members may not choose this option.
C - You may retire from the military, and pursue whatever your personal civilian pursuits may be.
D - You may join the private sector, be it the newly recognized Anaheim Electronics, or some other mobile suit related company.
Anybody who doesn't send an email will remain in the EF military.
I'd like Rogues to send similar emails, but since you guys are more freeform, just send whatever.
Hidden Zeon members don't need to email, since you guys have gone underground, and are awaiting 0083 when you can fight the Federation again with Delaz.
I will be updating the statuses of every member to show what was chosen.
In addition, our Zeon members who did not hide nor surrender (all three of them) will have battles written detailing their last stand for Zeon. They will die gloriously for their cause, and may take out a Federation PC or two as well!
#2 - We are going to have an RPing contest through the end of the week. I'd like everybody to make a thread detailing what happens to their character after the war. This should tie in with whatever email you send. Our first place prize for this contest will get a post-war specialization for funsies, but I'm hoping you guys care enough about your characters to give them a good send off.
If your char is currently dead, which is quite a few of you, you can still make RP posts about notable NPCs, or your characters family accepting a flag, or something like that. Such things are touching, they is.
#3 - We are going to have one more event, which will be posted over the weekend. For there is still one loose end to tie up, finding out what happens when the Oldsmobile Faction goes to an MIA controlled Mars. Cid gets a little extra attention since we basically kept him out of the game for a month while I was being a tool.
#4 - Over the week, I will be opening up all the side boards and making them public, so you guys can read all the dirty things everybody said about everybody else. I'll also be updating the timeline.
Finally, I'll be making threads detailing what I thought of everybodies plans piece by piece throughout the game. I'm hoping these threads will do two things. One, let you guys see how close the game actually was for almost the entirety of the run. It is hard to see it as not being an EF landslide now, but right up until even after the Jaburo event I was on the edge of my seat, since I knew all the plans that just barely didn't succeed, and all the times when a group with overbearing momentum lost it with simple mistakes. You'll be finding all of those out.
Second, I'm hoping it'll give me a chance to make fun of everybody. I've been holding it in for a year, and it's my chance to be a douchebag, hah!
Douchebagginess aside, I'd like to thank you all for playing. This RPG doesn't work without a huge amount of character input. Even the people who are only sparsely active, who only sit on fleets and send RP transfers, and the people who never roleplay are important. Without all of your dedication, the game could not have run to completion, and I hope everybody is as proud of their contribution to the RPG as I am with mine.
I'd also like to thank my staff specifically.
Chan, Threid, Chris, Strikey, Zepp, Zero-0, Nirvash, Jon, Nader, Kyle, Spade, and anybody I may be forgetting, were all wonderful writers. The game could not have run without their contributions. Some writers contribute more than others, but it is a huge contribution to just put up with me yelling at you all the time, my demanding schedules and deadlines and formatting restrictions. Just applying takes a lot of balls, and each and every one of you performed as expected. The game could not have run without you.
Especially Chan and Threid. Chan gets the reward for being the only writer who remained on staff for the entire run, and the two of them together basically singlehandedly wrote everything for the final month of the RPG, when everybody else was burned out. Big thanks to them.
And thanks to Latooni, Gaplant, Dan, Aleksei and Gray for being good forum mods. You guys helped me more than you realize, taking up small and time draining projects when I was too tired from doing other stuff.
And especially, thanks to Cid. The RPG obviously wouldn't work without Cids wonderful website layout, but it especially wouldn't run without Cids moral support. He's basically been my therapist for the last year, and it has nearly ruined our personal friendship, but he stuck with it through to the end, and I am immensly grateful.
And finally, thanks to Thomas, Vlad and Draco, for their non-staff related contributions, such as writing our armistice treaty and making sprites and shop profiles. The game wouldn't be as much quality as it is without you guys. And thanks to Anastasia and Tian, for keeping the chatroom in working order despite server crashes and drama after drama after drama for an entire year.
If I could name one regret about OYW 5, it would be that Vlad was not a part of it. Here's to Vlad, he is a cooler guy than he realizes.
Anyway. That's the sap story. You guys owe me 20 RP threads by Sunday, so get at it.

Alec looked out at the frozen waters of the Arctic Sea. He was glad to have noticed the little frozen cove while the Avalon had made it's escape from Vladivostok. It was a shame that Commander Antonov had surrendered, but from what he understood, it was due in part to the advice of Tony Knight.
His fellow officer, but one with whom he had his disagreements. Their philosophies on what should have been done had differed, but he hadn't really had any public display of dissatisfaction with the young officer.
He had chosen the name for the spot, based on the girl left at Alexandria, the one woman whom he had truly loved, Laurentia. Her memory would be forever recorded as the name of the new minig complex. Something small, to support him, the crew, and his two remaining pilots. Akira and Gilgamos. The unusual Gilgamos was almost unwelcome, but had proven himself both a patriot and a skilled fighter, but most importantly, a skilled physician. The fact that he had one amongst the crew was a huge boost to morale.
And Akira, the one member of the Schutzstaffel that Alec felt he could trust. He still couldn't quite recall the path that had let them drift apart after the academy, but their reunion, no matter how bittersweet it was, was something he truly felt thankful for.
That, and the small group of pilots that he was able to recruit from Vladivostok. Even some fresh grunts, as inexperienced as they were with their mobile suits, were something of a welcome change. Those who viewed his ideals in the same light. The same light that Zeon Zum Deikun had lived, and died for.
The same ideals that Maharajah Kahn had been exiled to "command" AXIS for, the liberation of the colonies from Federal Forces rule. He knew that while the Principality may have died, the Spirit of Zeon lived and and breathed in the men and women of this small facility. They would wait, they would hide.
And they would always be watchful for the opportunity to join in the fight for Liberation. Who knows, maybe the Federation might change it's point of view, but Alec doubted it. He would always have to be on guard, and be...
Ever Vigilant.
