Personality: Tends to crack jokes while in combat and making remarks about enemy combatants while on a "party line" in a attempt to let the enemy's emmotions get the better of them. He never over do's his taunts. He'll keep his mouth shut when it comes to the element of surprise against opposing enemy forces. He has a very black and white perspective of the world. Your either are with him or against him, because of this he views rogues with great suspision and he shows no mercy for surrendering troops. If he feels he can get away with executing a surrendering enemy he will do it without hesitation.
While not in combat he is very much consumed with his work as a officer. He's always worried about the next day trying to do what it takes to kill as many Zeon soldiers as possible and keeping his subordinates alive aswell if at all possible. He has little respect for anyone outside of Admiral Jamitov's inner circle with the exeption to General Revil.

Biography- Cato started out life in Austin, Texas growing up on a military base where his family resided at the time. His father served in the Federal military and encouraged him to pursue a career in the military. Cato entered the academy at his father's blessing to become a officer. While in the academy he had gained a reputation for being a rebel and a slacker and even being known for trying to cheat off of his fellow cadets in order to get ahead in his studies.
When the Battle of Lourm had ended, Cato had receivewed news his father had been KIA in the fighting. The massive loss of Federal soldiers was a shot to moral in the Federation government and now more soldiers were needed including officers. Grief stricken and seeing his graduation from the academy(despite his poor test scores) as a sign from his father to seek out revenge against Zeon soldiers and personal he goes into Federal service with a chip on his shoulder. Two months after his father's death at the Battle of Lourm, a major orbital mobile suit drop operation is conducted by the ZMF. Cato is stationed at Europe at the time and proticipates in the defence of a city.
Despite fighting a losing battle against ZMF mobile suits, Cato is able to claim three mobile suit kills against enemy Zakus while in combat before retreating back with friendly forces to Belfast. Rumors begin to circulate that he also has been accused by eye witnesses to have slautered a infantry platoon that accompanied the Zakus with his GM's vulcans after they had fired a rocket propelled grenade at his mobile suit and then surrendered. The fighting in the city claimed his left eye. This gained him the nickname Vulcan Goloni from some of his peers.
A few weeks after the ZMF offensive in Europe he is moved to Jaburo where he is later redeployed into space to carry on the fight against the ZMF in space. Before seeing any action in space he is recognised and praised by Admiral Jamitov Heiman for his actions in Europe. Being seen as someone of action in the eyes of the Admiral, Cato is taken under his wing and brought into Jamitov's inner circle to forward the Admiral's agenda.
Cato's career after being assigned to the 1st Independent Disco Fleet has been riddled with mediocrity. His first day with the fleet he had ordered the capture of a Zeon newtype. Confident in the chances of his men he went to travel to the Ohm Fleet so he could gloat about his success. Unfortunately before he arrived he was handed the news that the capture had failed at the Zeon newtype had escaped. His travel to the Ohm Fleet only added to his failure. Bosque Ohm another member of Jamitov Heiman's inner circle, butted heads with Cato on the proper strategy to use against the Zeon. After the meeting Cato became paranoid and very distrustful of Ohm and has never trusted him since the meeting.
Three days after he returned to the 1st Independent Disco Fleet, he took part in a operation to clear out Earth's Orbit of Zeon patrols. The first attack went according to plan after being ambushed initially by the Musai Class Cleopatra, the Federation fleet laid waste to the ship and took out the first patrol. Before operations could move forward to destroy the other patrol, Intel was passed along to Issac Lon' Dozai and Cato about the Zeon's extensive mining operations occurring at 3e. Cato was given a more detailed report thinks to Admiral Heiman's agents. He found out through the report that a Wu Jinyuan was the brainchild of the mining operations. He was given a report of big the mining operation was and how much resources these mines were producing for the Zeon war effort.
Through a series of weeks, Cato became obsessed with stopping the mining operations and to stop Wu Jinyuan. While the 1st Independent Fleet bulked up and buyed more defenses for a attack on Zeon owned Texas Colony, Cato performed a interrogation on a captured Zeon soldier to extract more information about Wu Jinyuan. The effort proved to be fruitless and offered little results. Once the fleet was on its way to Texas Colony more information became apparent about Jinyuan and his occupation before the war. To Cato's surprise Jinyuan was more of a businessman working in the Zeon military industrial complex. Before the fleet made its final course correction to Texas they came in to contact with Wu Jinyuan's Zeon Expeditionary Fleet.
With careful planning and courageous effort put forth by the personal of the 1st Independent Disco Fleet, The Zeon Expeditionary Fleet was defeated and was even attacked again sending the Zeon fleet back running to friendly Zeon controlled space. Shortly after the engagement with Jinyuan's fleet, the 1st Independent Disco Fleet captured the Zeon controlled Texas colony and brought it under Federation control.
After more careful weeks of planning and accumulating more resources the 1st Independent Fleet went out and attacked the Bomer Fleet and destroyed it. To Cato and Bosque Ohm the plan was known as Operation Green Chip. It was intended to spring Ohm from the 2e frontlines where he was being blocked ay the Bomer Fleet so he his fleet could interfere with Zeon supply routes. The plan was success, but it came with the price of the 1st Independent Disco Fleet being crippled and destroyed. For Cato the price of trying to undermine Ohm came with the price of subordinates and the captain of the Merrimack being promoted. His paranoia has only grown more as fears of other officers and subordinates trying to undermine him have plagued his mind.
Seeking to garner a promotion to keep himself ahead of the pack, Cato takes part in two seek and destroy operations. One was against a Zeon search and rescue team the other was against a Papua class. In both operations he encountered a Zeon pilot by the name of Xander Reece, who has proven to be Cato's equal in combat creating a rivalry between the two men. The flames of this rivalry burned even hotter when Cato killed Xander's father, the captain of the Papua class in the second seek and destroy operation.
