Past history -
Anton's past has been a shaky one. A third generation spacenoid, he initially identified strongly with the spacenoid independence movement on the rise. Despite living in a colony that housed an EF garrison, he still regularly maintained contacts with circles that advocated Zeon Deikun's beliefs (even as these started to diminish during the Zabi's crackdowns on Deikun's followers.)
Early in 0079, he and a few colleagues traveled to one of the colonies in Side 7, where a large non-violent rally for spacenoid independence was building.
During this time, two things happened. First, the Principality of Zeon declared war on the Earth Federation. Second, inevitably, was the One Week War.
Following the rallies, Anton received the news that would change his life -- During Zeon's initial strikes, one of the colonies they gassed was his home colony.
The shock was devastating. In a flash, the same movement that not even two days earlier he had been standing up and protesting for had used the cry of freedom to murder thousands of civilians, including his parents and sister.
As the first phases of the war unfolded, he spent the initial weeks in a depression over what he saw as a betrayal by the ideals he had once stood for. Over time as he sorted out the matter in his head, he began to realize the truth, as a spacenoid, he couldn't turn his back entirely on the idea of spacenoid freedom. By the same token, however, he couldn't forgive the Zeon. He began to separate the faction from the ideal, more and more believing the only way for the colonies to be free was for Zeon to be completely and ultimately wiped out.
Fueled by this idea, and his growing contempt for Zeon, he tried to volunteer for the EF's space division.
He passed the initial training fairly well, and was only a few days from deploying, however, one more problem arose. While passing by in one part of the station, he heard another EF soldier, one Marc Simmons, making a passing comment in favor of Zeon (in reality, it was just about their MS.)
Unfortunately, he took this as support of their ideals. A fight quickly broke out. The ensuing brawl was pretty vicious. Anton got a black eye, lost two teeth, and got some bruised ribs. In turn, Marc received a broken nose, three missing teeth, a cracked rib, and a black eye as well. The only other details anyone remembered were, as Anton was dragged away from the fight, he was yelling at the man "Tell me it was worth it! Tell me my family's lives were acceptable losses! Why the Hell won't you answer me?!"
Suffice it to say, after the incident, he was summarily thrown in the brig. In the days that followed, he silently waited for his inevitable discharge.
After three days, an unexpected change occurred. An officer came to his cell to inform him of a transfer. It seemed word of his outburst had made its way to one of Admiral Jamitov's subordinates. Back on Earth, Jamitov had established a squardon some months back on the European front.
Their orders - sabotage, delay, or destroy Odessa's supply lines. Whatever methods necessary are considered acceptable, and even encouraged (although never openly, naturally.)
Recently, this division had an opening care of one of its members being killed in action. In light of this incident, the subordinate felt the division had its newest member.
Suffice it to say, Anton is treated a the team's newbie, with all the taunts and mockery that that entails.
Personality - As stated above, he still believes in the idea of spacenoid autonomy. By the same token, however, he will refuse to accept the idea of Zeon as a positive force, and will often bristle up, if not become outright violent, at the idea of Zeon's ideology being painted as noble. If faced with a 'true believer' will likely become violent.
Otherwise, tends to be somewhat quiet, but not outright antisocial. Will often weigh in during group discussions, if only to toss out a passing comment. As a result of this new squad, has developed something of a more sarcastic and occasionally insolent demeanor, partially thanks to being the low man on the totem pole in his current squad. Despite this generally callous attitude, he still values the lives of his colleagues, having already experienced loss before, and even if it's a squadmate he regularly locks horns with, will still make the concentrated effort to save them. (This also applies to civilians...as far as rogues....that's a case-by-case basis. Zeon...yeeeeeah...riiiiiiight.)
Additional note - Like the other members of his squad, Anton has taken to adding messages to his MS. On the tower shield is the message "We come in peace." On the GM's skirt armor is a smilie face with the message "Have a nice day!"
OK. That should do it. If anything needs to be changed, just let me know.
