I miss FF anything pre IX, IX and X were fun but was a starting fall. So much less to them then VI and VII

After 9, Final Fantasy games just don't seem as epic to me. Having a World Map adds, in my opinion, a feeling that you are, in fact, traveling across an entire world over the course of your adventure. Sure the maps and areas you travel to in 10 and 12 are big, but they don't feel any bigger than a town with how quickly you seem to run from one town to another.
Also, Xenogears. BAM.

I kind of liked the lack of world maps. Since I actually have traveled across entire countries on foot, I know how unrealistic it is to go from one end of a continent to another in the blink of an eye.
