New York
'Allo! I know Thursday's update won't be done until Friday, but it looks like the Federation PCs have moved into their formations for Monday's assault on New York. So it's probably not too early to begin planning our counter-attack.
I'll begin by outlining the Federation forces, follow it up with Zeon friendlies, and then we're gonna go ahead and parallel park in a spot smaller than we have before. To start it all off, however, we need to take a hit of our salvia.

Matthew, did intelligence on the officers' forum say it was going to be an assault, or a siege, Monday?
The battle itself can be divided amongst three terrain types: ground, aquatic and aerial. Might be worth coming up with a strategy that creates a bottleneck for the Federation in one or two regions, that will prevent them from operating in all three. They've got plenty of air power, but if we hit them hard at sea (concentrating on the Himalayas), that disappears. They can land GMs if they choose to assault, but only by parachuting them in with Medeas, which we could counter with Gaw MPC fire and stationary AA turrets. Etc...
Our chances would improve quite a bit if we could take one of those aircraft carriers down early. I'd love a shot at one with my Grabro, but between the fleets there are 7 x L2 GM Divers, 1 x L5 GM Diver, and Hirsch and Charles (both at 1/2 VP) in the water. I'm buying a pair of L3 Z'Goks Monday, and the base has 2 x L2 Goggs, but we'd still be outmatched. Any chance Ando could pick up aquatic MS for his team? It might help even the odds.
Think it'd be worth getting a minefield? It might prevent amphibious units from reaching land easily. Won't have much of an effect otherwise, since the Federation's naval vessels don't have troops to land, and probably won't be nearing the shore.
All of their regular ground forces are Medea-based, and have to paradrop with parachutes, according to the large shop description. They've only got about 12 ground MS in total, and if they're having to parachute down, we should be able to knock at least half off with AA fire.
Air will, as always, be the big shadow looming over our heads. We've got plenty of Dodais to send MS into the air, which is good, but that detracts from our ground defense. They've got two skilled aerial PCs and all the fighters two Himalayas can hold. Not to mention the Medeas... Again, if we can knock a Himalaya out early, it'd be helpful. If all else fails, we should definitely save enough cash so that each day we're under attack, we can purchase 2 x flight support services.
Think that's about all I have, until the update posts. Hopefully we can hammer somethin' out over the weekend, and sink those Feddies before they even get a chance to look towards California.
Yeah. It'll especially suck if they decide to drop Thorvald and Aurem into our laps. However, this might mean less of a burden on the troops in Europe.
Y'know, the one time I decide to stay the hell out of East Asia, the Federation routes exactly zero PCs to the region.
Can't pick up a Grabro, unless they RP transfer to me Monday, and we purchase Tuesday. Nobody's got the individual funds. And if this is a siege (can you confirm that?), iirc, Matthew and MyTitan won't be able to purchase non-services while at the base.
We know their fleet is going to move on from New York to California, if New York falls. So the Lorelay in North America would certainly help (though you'd give Hirsch +10 untaxable VP, thanks to your little RP posts! *conveniently ignores his photo contributions*).
I tried to get myself a commendation as well!
I just suck...
Also, aim that (A) Large MPC at the LLG, its damaged and a freaking Carrier, so I don't see it moving out of the way too easily. XD
I know Aleksei plans to steamroll so if we're smart about it an can cause as much damage at possible, its a win for us... it may be like Archangelisk where its just a lost cause (Y'all have opportunity to do more damage than I do however), and we need to make it last as long as possible so that they need to report to Odessa before they get chance to hit California >.>
I imagine Hirsch will use/has used his Medea R Type to repair the LLG to "Lightly Damaged." So it'll probably be about on par with the NPC Himalaya. Maybe we could have the Large MPC target one, and my Grabro suicide into another. I'll just keep rerolling characters until I decide to commit to a theater of operations that isn't certain death.
We're about to begin Week 15. Odessa begins at end of Week 16. So chances are they're going to, as you said, try and steamroll this operation. Get New York over with quick, and then head onto California.
Might be worth it just to target the NPC ships. Unless all goes swimmingly for the Federation, I doubt Hirsch and friends will risk not being at Odessa. So they'll probably break off instead of going to California, like you're suggesting. If we can deal enough damage to the NPC ships, then, the NPC task force wouldn't be large enough to pose much of a threat to Cali.
The following would be a chat log from last night, it never got really into details since I still haven't gotten info from Gap as to would I be making out a defensive plan with spending or no spending, but here it is. More bits under it.
Anyways, if it's the actual defensive movement I'm going to assume you can't exactly control the Gaws since they are NPCs and they will do what they want. But line up your cheap Zaku units in the urban part of New York, the structures should provide some shielding from the oceanic shelling and you're going to need those MS acting as Anti-Air with MGs to hold back the assault. They will be heavy on bombers and you want to keep those things off the base, the bombarding from the ships will be harsh enough. During the votes it's likely they will bombard, altough this all depends on the scheduling for their fleets. If the fleet is scheduled tightly the addition of Zeta might make them cocky and try to roll it to save time. The water scares me, and they have enough torpedoes from the ships and two aquatic units to make me cry. Your duo of Z'Goks seems like a good idea, It would defiantly deter a rush of their MS to make landfall. Find out if you can even make purchases, since the siege could have started today. Besides that try to swat down any aircraft you can while pulling into the base using the urban landscape to your advantage, hell, you even have an outer wall to cover any land based escape.
Nigel's movements will likely be against something else. I would expect him to go more for a heavier hit on Zeon property than assisting a base assault like that. Then again, he may already be in Europe as of this update with a paradrop on Lorelay. I always picture him doing what I would do and that would be it. he's damaged but the sub is moving so it can't counter attack and it would have little it could do against medeas, plus he loves to buy snails.
FUN LOGS!
This is what was edited from the start:
This is what the conversation turned to when Gaplant didn't know dates
Updated the original post to reflect tonight's movements/statuses. Gofannon went to Europe today, but the 42nd entered North America. So Monday will be a real fun show.
Odessa Task Force Zeta didn't siege New York. Makes me wonder if they plan to go for California instead. Zeta probably lacks the manpower to attack California alone, but the 42nd allows them to drop Blue Destiny and a GM Sniper, plus however many GMs Jojo and Thomas and Aurem can purchase.
Monday, I'm going to attack Task Force Zeta. Figure it's the safest of the options, since if they attack New York I'll be at the New York battle, and if they attack California we'll at least have one PC there to fend them off.
Purchases will probably be either 2 x L3 Z'Goks, or 2 x L2 Z'Goks + 2 x support services and 1 x Luggun.

Dear Zeon Officers,
High Command would like to purchase the following for its besieged bases:
An Underwater Minefield for New York
Minefield and Trenches for Constantinople
Trenches for Archangelisk
However, because these bases are under siege, High Command is not allowed to spend Side RP on these luxuries, and each bases individual income is not enough to purchase the add-ons while besieged.
Therefor, High Command is requesting the aid of players on these bases to purchase these add-ons. Players on these bases specifically are allowed to purchase these specific add-ons on Monday only, even though they do not Own the bases.
I'm really tired of being doubted.
I'll begin by outlining the Federation forces, follow it up with Zeon friendlies, and then we're gonna go ahead and parallel park in a spot smaller than we have before. To start it all off, however, we need to take a hit of our salvia.

[01:52] > Why do you come to me when it's already too late?
[01:52] <Gaplant> Well, listen
[01:53] <Gaplant> How do you feel about this
[01:53] <Gaplant> I had 442 RP today
[01:53] <Gaplant> I used it to buy a Samson, marines, and Gouf + Dodai II and Zaku Cannon + Dodai II
[01:53] > Bad.
[01:53] <Gaplant> would you consider that a good use of money
[01:53] <Gaplant> i don't know why i try anymorej
[01:53] <Gaplant> but why is that bad
[01:53] > You're at new york, right?
[01:53] <Gaplant> yes
[01:54] > let em consult the rules.
[01:54] <Gaplant> The mobile suits were going to play into an RP I am trying to do
[01:54] <Gaplant> and the Samson I thought would be good for supplies
[01:55] > Hmm..
[01:55] > Well my largest recommendation can't be done unless you petitoned Ket or something a few days back.
[01:55] <Gaplant> Which would be what?
[01:55] <Gaplant> Also, it should be noted that Revil wants to talk to Nigel Ferdinand about possibly assaulting the base sooner than expected
[01:56] <Gaplant> due to the large amount of "autonomous units" participating (EFGF PCs)
[01:56] > You have inside information of the coming attacks, know it's coming, and have 12 open defensive slots, 108 side RP would have been nicely spent since you could have used all the AA guns you could hold.
[01:57] <Gaplant> Can we actually petition for stuff like that?
[01:57] <Gaplant> I didn't think we could.
[01:57] > You're an officer, why not.
[01:57] <Gaplant> I dunno, if that was the case we could have asked them to use side RP to turn the RF mines into fortresses.
[01:57] <Gaplant> Or something.
[01:58] > Not only that but it would make Ket question why a Fortress that knows it will be attacked not be stocked fully.
[01:58] > This is small.
[01:58] <Gaplant> i missed you dan

[01:59] > besides that I remembered Ket saying you could deploy minefields at a base, I could be losing my mind but I remember someone wanting to deploy them at Odessa even though we dont own them.
[02:00] <Gaplant> Man lots of Gaws at New York.
[02:00] <Gaplant> Maybe we can win.
[02:00] <Gaplant> Aquatic side is looking sketchy, but they have to come on land or pound it into submission to win.
[02:00] <Gaplant> And bam, that's where I hit Aquaman.
[02:00] <Gaplant> excelsior~
[02:01] > Who all is on Zeta?
[02:01] > since it doesnt list.
[02:01] <Gaplant> Jim Irwin, Arianna Saoirse, Hirsch Munchek, Scott Archer
[02:01] <Gaplant> if I remember right
[02:02] <Gaplant> so Tin Cod, GM S, Waterproof, Core Booster
[02:02] <Gaplant> i might be missing one
[02:02] > GM Aqua
[02:03] > But yeah, the AA defences and aquatic minefield would be my votes. For what you can do right now.
[02:03] > let me look
[02:03] <Gaplant> IF we are able to do that
[02:06] <Draco> Mine the harbor indeed.
[02:06] > Draco, we were told we could laydown minefields on bases we dont own, right?
[02:06] <Draco> I don't know.
[02:07] <Draco> Gap: While I think the Gouf and the Dodai IIs were good purchases, I'm not so sure about the Zaku Cannon. If you deploy it on the ground, that's great, but it'll fall off the Dodai if it tries using the cannon while riding.
[02:07] > You don't want to be in the air during this battle =o
[02:08] > Now it depends how the sieging works mainly...
[02:08] > If they bombard you...theres no real way for you to get them back >.>
[02:09] > The water is deadly, they own the sky, and the number of bombarding ships will be pretty great..
[02:10] > 5x Hillocks, An Everest Battleship, and Two Himalayas laying down bombardment...
[02:12] <Gaplant> we have a bunch of gaws though!
[02:12] <Gaplant> they don't exactly own the sky
[02:12] > Hillocks have mean AA.
[02:12] > They own the skies >..
[02:12] <Gaplant> can't the gaws fly above it?
[02:12] <Gaplant> aren't the hillocks unguided AA
[02:12] <Gaplant> like their VLS is just rockets and shit that they spam upwards
[02:12] > it's the kind that paint the sky.
[02:13] <Gaplant> we have NIMBUS
[02:13] <Gaplant> ando + nimbus
[02:14] <Gaplant> they don't have a scouting report either
[02:14] <Gaplant> unless i'm mistaken
[02:14] <Gaplant> and they won't get one until they fail to assault
[02:14] <Gaplant> so their bombardment will be less effective
[02:17] <Gaplant> and the dodai II is for rapid transport so it can set up at alternate firing positions draco, gosh
[02:17] <Gaplant> :p
[02:17] > thats still like 300 missles it can launch at large Gaws.
[02:17] <Gaplant> mostly i just neglected to think of that since i was in a hurry
[02:17] <Draco> Damn right it'll be Ando and Nimbus.
[02:17] <Draco> Just like it'll be Rhett Paruta and his sidekicks Garma Zabi and Johnny Ridden.
[02:18] <Gaplant> We have some Doms Dan, those things are pretty good at killing Hillocks.
[02:19] <Gaplant> But I figured the Gaws could fly high enough so that they wouldn't be able to use MPCs, but maybe bombs (assuming a ground spotting team lolme) and minimize the AA damage.
[02:19] > But theres like 6 NPC GM divers and the other GM Aqua
[02:19] <Draco>
[02:19] <Gaplant> That's where Kale comes in!
[02:19] <Draco> So? Stab them in the throat!
[02:19] > I counted him on occupying the gundam
[02:19] <Gaplant> I wish the fucking Cyclops team would come to NEw York
[02:19] <Gaplant> that'd even things a little
[02:20] <Draco> "Hi Mr. GM. I kick ass." "Oh, hello! I....GACK!"
[02:20] <Gaplant> Ando + Nimbus +Bernie
[02:20] <Draco> Be better off as Ando + Nimbus - Bernie.
[02:20] <Gaplant> prob
[02:20] <Gaplant> But I think if we can consistently win the siege rolls
[02:20] <Gaplant> We can pull it off.
[02:21] <Gaplant> AND I WILL BE LIKE
[02:21] <Gaplant> WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK WE ARE?!

[02:27] > he really didnt fix it...
