Act 1: Lindon opens shop Lindon Faergot put the last few nails in the sign. 'FAERGOT'S SAVINGS AND LOANS' - a great sign of a burgeoning economy. He was lucky too, to be the only owner of a farm house outside of the Village of Eco. Out in the fields, the giant wolf Terra was exacting vengance. In the village itself, skeletons were slaughtering villagers. But here out in the farmlands, on his own private maison, he'd built something viable. Truly, it could be said to be a subsidiary of the Bank of Eco. But with that Bank raided by skeletons, its bonds could be in jeopardy. The ringing of a bell lightened Lindon's spirits, and he turned to welcome his first customers. "Welcome to Faergot's Savings and Loans, how can I," Lindon paused, looking at the man and woman who just walked in, one holding a goat on a leash. The woman was the same one who robbed him just recently, a great inspiration to get out of the town. But customers were customers. ".. help you." "First, you can start by kneeling before your new village chief! Steve, show 'em a good kneel!" Ball bellowed, followed by the inane chewing of cud by Steve the Goat. Lindon looked at the trio inquisitively, subconsciously grabbing his silver pouch. "... A pleasure to meet you, chief. We've yet to get our silver reserves in yet, but let me see if I can find something in the back." Lindon turned, thinking about anything he could use in the shop as a weapon. And would it be wise? He was chief after all. But this was straight robbery! He felt a slender hand on his shoulder, and turned to lock eyes with the familiar girl. "Maybe I can.. help you find it," Katherine mused, giving Lindon an eyeful of her low neckline. Lindon gulped, chirping out an 'Okay', and the two walked behind the counter to the back. Katherine tapped a piece of wood on the floor while they walked, anxious to get the payment. "Here we are! I think this will be perfect for you!" Lindon handed her a pounch, and she placed the wood beside her. "Wow! What a big pouch of.. mushrooms?" She appeared confused, moving the mushroom around the bag, then looking up at Lindon. Unfortunately, it would be the last thing she'd see today. Lindon walloped her with the wood, and she fell to the ground, unconscious. He tossed the wood, his wood, onto a desk, while carrying the girl and pouch of mushrooms back to the front. "I'm afraid your ol' girl fainted from amazement. Quite a lot in there," Lindon said, smiling and passing Katherine to Ball. Ball looked at her, then at the pouch, then back at Lindon, then at Steve, then back to Lindon. Steve stopped chewing, causing tension. "That's all great for her, but what about me?!" he boomed, causing Lindon to step back a few steps. "You.. you want more?" Lindon panicked, fishing out his freshly earned wolf jerky from his lunch, and handing it to Ball Punion. The village chief seized the jerky, taking a mouthful, then whirling around and leaving the shop - bumping Katherine on the side of a door by accident as he did so. Dramatically, Steve stared at Lindon - who was confused at the straggler. He walked up close to try and shoo the animal away, and got a face full of hooves. Steve walked away from the knocked out Lindon, tributeless and catching up to his master. Ball tossed the girl in the back with the cannons, and continued to eat the jerky. As he did, he felt something strange in his teeth. He fished around to see what it was - and pulled out a maggot. The jerky was livid with them. He spit out one, then another, then a third. It seemed like the meat was more maggot than jerky. He vomited over the side of "My Chicken," as Steve exhibited a pensive expression at the reigns. That jerky had been left in the dirt that weekend, and Lindon was fixing to throw it out. Ball Punion would have preferred that he did. Outcome: Ball Punion is triumphant Lindon Faergot: -10 HP, +70 SP, Loses Wolf Jerky and Back Mushroom, Gains Wood Katherine Lockheart: -35 HP, +5 SP, Gains Back Mushroom, Loses Wood Ball Punion: -35 HP, +10 HP, +5 SP, Gains and Eats Wolf Jerky |
