Act 1: Introduction Enter Setting The full moon was hidden behind dark black clouds, as elsewhere in Eco unspeakable horrors were occurring. But here out in the farmlands, it was almost serene. The steady hooting of barn owls helped lull a weary traveler into a state of tranquility. He leaned against a tree, his wolf pelt armor resting over black leather, a forged steel shovel loosely held in his hands. About him, more weapons - a woodcutter's axe, a battle scythe. Tucked in the pelt, an array of throwing knives. At his feet, a travel pack. The traps were more than set. Suddenly, the owls fell silent. The flapping of their wings was punctuated a change into silence, itself broken by the sound of an animal moving between stalks of corn. Dismas straightened himself, ready to strike. It had been a long journey from the village center, and a good meal could put him through the week. The sound of movement continued, then stopped with the sound of the snare trap catching. He rushed from behind the tree, shovel raised high above his head, and struck proudly at the wild animal before him. The shovel stopped, which confused the predator, until he looked up at his prey. The giant wolf, Terra of the farms, had her paw caught in Dismas' snare kit. Now his shovel rested on her head, a trail of blood seeping down her face. The white of the hunter's eyes shone for a brief moment, as the moon peeked from behind the clouds and revealed the wolf, two meters high. She howled, sending chills up the craftsman's spine, and he turned tail and fled towards his other weapons. Terra grabbed the shovel out of his hands, throwing it into the corn, and chasing after the fleeing enemy. Dismas slid towards his encampment, scooping up the scythe and attacking her front legs - to which she arose on her hinds, clawing his chest. The double armor was fortunate, blocking the blow, but the scythe was struck from his hands. The wolf was about to finish the job, until it was the target of a devastating side kick. There, Charon the Chocobo attacked her master's enemy, jumping and kicking at the giant wolf to get him away from Dismas. The wolf retaliated, meeting the avian's claws with his own, and the two fought. Not one to sit idly by, Dismas pulled out two knives and threw them at Terra, striking her in her legs. The wolf roared in pain, tackling Charon and turning towards Dismas again. He took the woodcutter's axe in hand, ready to defend his mount - but Terra stopped. "I will avenge my cubs," the wolf boomed, then turned and fled into the corn fields. The woodcutter's axe fell to the ground, and Dismas crouched. Charon went to her master, the two worse for wear - but not dead. He had escaped the giant wolf this time, but clearly, the farms were no longer safe to hunt. Outcome: Stalemate Dismas Agamemnon: -35 HP, +55 SP Terra: -55 HP |
