The Guild’s largest resource mining operation to date, Geryon is located inside of Glacier National Park, located in British Colombia. The base is spread throughout the park, using the vast untapped resources of the former park to further fund the Guild’s operations. It has been divided into five sections for ease of reference for personnel stationed there, as it covers a wide area of the former park. The fixed turrets near the passes are reinforced to be able to withstand both gunfire and the frequent avalanches that occur. The airfield is built in an area of land towards the center of the base that was cleared specifically for the purpose, and the command center is dug into one of the peaks towards the center of the base for maximum protection. The hangars have been spread through the area, insuring that the mobile suit forces are able to cover every area of the base. Turrets have also been spread out, and many guard passes through the mountains from elevated positions to fire down on approaching enemies.
Though the turrets and mobile suits that are present at the base pose a ever-present threat to attackers, the terrain itself is just as dangerous, as the mountains are difficult to scale on their own, and the large number of mines buried into their sides to help avalanches along make matters worse for would-be attackers. In addition, the sheer size of the base and the non-descript nature of the wilderness often disorient attackers. The roads in the flatter areas as well as the passes are also often mined, though this varies from month to month. Bunkers also line the sides many of the roads, and checkpoints are common. Security is also extremely tight, and unidentified signals are often shot on sight from as far away as possible. Stations for the installation’s sensors are spread out in order to facilitate communication between the buildings and command center, in order to better catch any interlopers. Travel throughout the mountainous portions of the base is assisted via a system of tunnels and subways in order to prevent avalanches and harsh weather from damaging anything important.
In addition, there have been plans to further improve the base.
