Constructed as a tertiary port facility on the Mediterranean, the Earth Union’s military base on Thasos island served to consolidate a number of Human Reform League facilities on the Black Sea and a mobile suit base in Romania, maintaining regional military control without the need for several installations constructed entirely for a League-Alliance war that would never come.

The Thasos base is an entirely modern construction, occupying much of the former site of the town of Ammoudia. The beach has been paved over to form a modest dock facility, while administrative buildings, offices, and a barracks compound fill the concourse up to the base of the extinct volcano that forms most of the island’s ridges. A long runway runs at a roughly forty-five degree angle towards the southeast, extending out into the bay for a considerable distance. At the interior end of the airfield the base extends into the side of the mountain, with a hangar complex for mobile suits, large scale repair facility, and the defense command center tucked away below the surface. Large blast doors can close off this area from the rest of the base in the event of enemy attack.

In terms of defensive emplacements, Thasos is entirely ubiquitous with most other Earth Union installations, although the placement is somewhat different. Due to its central location, the long airstrip pays host to almost all of the gun positions, including both the turreted cannons and vertical-launching missile batteries, both of which are hidden below the tarmac in retractable mounts as usual.
