A radical modification of the Akatsuki, the Akashiki is a high speed transformable mobile suit equipped with a nuclear reactor and a large assortment of weapons. In mobile armor mode, it resembles a fighter plane, and can re-enter the atmosphere. The functions of the Akatsuki’s packs have been merged into the Akashiki, and it’s propulsion system upgraded with Voiture Lumiere lightwave pulse thrusters, similar to those used on Strike Freedom. It’s joints are also reinforced with Phase Shift armor to allow it to undertake more radical maneuvers, though this reinforcement does not extend to the entire body, due to incompatibilities with the Akatsuki’s formidable anti-beam defenses.
