The Black Dog Company’s attack and destruction of the Simonov Squadron in lunar orbit was the final nail in the coffin for the “space détente” faction of the Earth Union’s Federal Assembly,  and with a new majority of hawkish representatives in office a full scale mobilization of ships to Earth’s orbit was undertaken. The Combined Orbital Blockade Fleet represents the majority of the projection power of the Earth Union space force, the Cosmo Marina, and is tasked with a total interdiction of all traffic to and from Earth. With a huge number of mobile suits at its disposal and the benefit of Space Fortress Sentinel’s extensive observation satellite network the fleet is capable of responding to attempted incursions from virtually any angle – trying to avoid the fleet itself will force a blockade runner into the fortress’ airspace. Legitimate shipping and passenger travel is directed to Sentinel for inspection before being allowed to proceed to its final destination, while smugglers and runners find themselves on the next shuttle to a terrestrial prison – if they’re lucky.
