Formerly a hardened supply base, the small installation at Harare has rapidly been transformed into a relative bastion following the fall of South Africa to ZAFT. The base is essentially entirely located beneath the city, with bunkers and hangar complexes dotted around like spiderwebs with connecting tunnels between them. The base has little hope of surviving a massive, full scale assault, and it is beyond the firing range of Mogadishu’s Noventa Cannon. However, due to the ease at which Daughtresses may ride up elevators and surprise enemy units from behind, not to mention the plethora of rocket batteries capable of doing exactly the same, it would promise a grueling battle of building-to-building combat.

Perhaps more importantly, the Federation is essentially using the civilian city above as a shield, creating ethical concerns for possible invasion commanders as well.

Harare was the victim of a massive attack from nearly ten independent operators from various nations; a number of elevators, mobile suits, and turrets were lost in the attack, but far more damage was done to the city than the base, thanks primarily to the SRA’s massive Destroy Gundam. Casualties are estimated to be in the tens of thousands at the least, and the city has been essentially leveled.

Present: With the city already leveled, there was no moral defense to stop ZAFT’s Earth Liberation Army from taking the base, forcing the few remaining forces to retreat to Mogadishu.

The Atlantic Federation subsequently hit the city with a strategic nuke, reducing it to little more than a large crater. The base is completely unsalvageable.
