Mount Elgon is the Earth Union’s largest forward base in Africa, and the first purpose-built base constructed there – other Union establishments prior had been captured from defeated enemy forces. As a frontline base, its construction is greatly different than those within the Union homeland. A small surface complex of only a relatively modest airfield and a few warehouses on the south side of Lake Victoria, adjacent to the eponymous mountain, denotes the presence of the base. However, the existence of extremely large elevators – some large enough to accommodate land battleships – belies that the base is obviously much larger than it appears.
