Built primarily to establish sovereignty over Venus, the Marias base remains rather bare bones due to budget constraints. With few defenses, it is up to a handful of crack personnel at each base to defend against any possible attack.

However, this handful of personnel did not prove sufficient against a ZAFT attack force, and the base structures have been razed to the ground, though they could potentially be rebuilt. Still, this base currently is of no use to anyone.
