Formerly a Human Reform League staging base for near-shore patrols, the navy base just south of Karachi has expanded significantly under the auspices of the Earth Union. As the only large port facility in South Asia between the Middle East and Singapore, the Union’s substantial surface fleet assets required a suitable dock faculty for operations in the Indian Ocean, and the League’s base at Karachi posed the most sensible option.

The Karachi base was originally a relatively small installation hugging the coast on the southern edge of the city, a significant amount of land has been reclaimed from the marshes to the south, allowing for an extensive dock complex to be assembled complete with GN particle storage and resupply apparatuses, while a substantial mobile suit hangar compound was excavated out of the cliffs that separate the city from the ex-marshland. The base perimeter is actually established atop the cliffs, with a number of civilian structures having to be demolished for the construction of a few aerial masts as well as a line of defensive emplacements – this positioning allows for omnidirectional fields of fire, including both out to sea as well as down into the base concourse. Given the noticeable tidal fluctuations in the region, a substantial seawall has been constructed in parallel to the main dock facility about five hundred yards offshore – this also serves as an intermediate barrier to protect against long-range underwater attacks.
