In order to provide security for the eastern portions of the Canadian mainland, the Earth Union undertook construction of a defense base on Nova Scotia in the mid-230s. Myers Point is a fairly typical if compact installation, with roughly half of the overall base concourse given over to a very large airstrip that also doubles as a mooring point for Union spacecraft via a number of retractable masts normally stored below the surface – this faculty permits the fairly remote base to serve as an axillary landing site for vessels that have missed their original destination at Fort Suvorov in Nevada.

The base is located about six miles inland from the Atlantic Ocean on a small peninsula in Jeddore Sound, a well-defensible position from land approaches due to the deep water on three of four sides. When viewed from a distance, the base concourse is an unflattering square – the lack of nearby population centers and the relatively flat ground on the peninsula permitted “geographically relaxed” construction. Hangars are positioned at the northern side of the airfield, while a pair of massive GN particle storage tanks dominate the southern end – apparatuses in the mooring masts permit rapid refueling of Union craft with nearly depleted particle condensers, a not-uncommon condition after a botched atmospheric re-entry. The base’s command center is placed in the basement of a large administration/barracks building in the middle. Per most Union installations defensive emplacements are hidden below the main concourse on retractable mounts, with heavy concentration around the particle storage tanks. Because of Myers Point’s rather compact dimensions the depth of its defenses is proportionally higher, with no “dead zones” in turret coverage.
