THIS IS CAPE TOWN!

“Systems check. We can make this quick and easy.” Lyric Sate, pilot of the Double X, examined his mobile suits systems. “5 minutes till sunrise. Strike when it’s darkest. Twin Satellite Cannons charged, satellite feed established, all sensors green. Countdown started.” Lyric continued down his checklist.

In the distance, Cape Town began springing to life. The overnight shift was about to conclude and give way to the morning shift. Members of both crews scurried about the base, proceeding with their daily routines. A squad of DINNs hovered above the base, patrolling the area. It had been such a quiet night.

“10 seconds to go. Target locked. Satellite Cannon ho!” Lyric exclaimed. The Double X’s satellite cannons glowed brighter than the rising sun, before emitting a massive beam of light. The blast soared towards Cape Town. The base’s alarms sounded, futilely trying to warn its populace of their impending doom. The white light of the satellite cannons blast soared toward the base, deflecting off a yellow wall of energy at the last second. “They have shields?” Lyric cursed his luck. “No, they have something better.” a voice came over his comm as a blur zipped past his mobile suit, the shock wave knocking the Double X back. Lyric spun the Double X, facing his assailant. In front of him hovered a white and blue Gundam, a pair of large energy wings protruding from its thrusters. Lyric smiled, drawing his G-Hammer. “Fast mobile weapon you have there. Mind telling me what it is before I’m forced to kill you?” Lyric asked, the Double X swinging its G-Hammer overhead. “Its called the Victory 2, and its too much for you.” Cameron Sune rhymed. The V2 shifted its wings blasting forward at the Double X. The speed caught Lyric off guard, and the V2 slammed its Wings of Light into the Double X, severing the arm holding the G-hammer. Lyric turned, firing the Double X’s machine cannons in response. The V2 fled, outrunning the Double X’s attack. “Coward. Back to the base. Line up one more… oh.” Lyric stopped short. The base had mobilized, its entire mobile suit compliment deployed and closing in on the Double X. “This is bad.” Lyric remained calm, drawing his suit’s buster rifle. He was outnumbered, but his Gundam outclassed the base’s mobile suits. He pulled the trigger. No shot. The barrel of the rifle limped clean off.

The V2 reappeared, this time in front of the Double X, beam sabers drawn. Lyric responded, drawing the Double X’s twin saber and slashing the V2, knocking the Gundam back. Lyric pursued his advantage, only to be riddled by a barrage of machine gun fire as the DINNs closed fast. The Double X pulled back, dodging the machine gun fire only to be nailed by beam rifles as the GuAIZ fired from below. SAMs entered the fray, filling what little space was left with explosions. Lyric attempted to flee. The Double X dropped its excess equipment, attempting to outrun the DINNs. He didn’t get far before a saber pierced his mobile suit, followed by a large object striking and shoving his Gundam into the ground at a ridiculous speed. The impact only jostled Lyric, but the following hail of cannon, gun, and beam fire that bombarded his pinned mobile suit almost killed him, as every mobile weapon on the base unloaded into their defenseless opponent. After each mobile weapon had his or her turn, Cameron walked up to what remained of the Gundam X. “Happy travels, Feddie.” Cameron laughed. The V2 deployed its Wings of Light, advancing to maximum acceleration, Double X in tow. Once at full speed, the V2 flung the Double X forward, the mobile suit sent skipping along the ocean surface like a pebble along a pond.
