An improved version of the Phoenix Gundam, the Red Phoenix takes everything that made the Phoenix Gundam good, and makes it better. The first major improvement was to replace the Psycommu System with an improved Neo-Psycommu system, allowing for the Phoenix to be controlled entirely by the pilot’s mind. This plays off of the Phoenix Gundam’s second improvement, which is increased maneuverability and speed.

In terms of armament, the Red Phoenix has lost the beam sabers, but gained an improved set of beam rifles and melee weapons in the form of the beam calibers. The beam calibers are modified beam rifles, but what makes them unique is that along the base of each barrel is a massive blade extending all the way from the trigger to extending past the muzzle itself. The beam calibers can still combine like the previous beam rifles, but now also can combine into a massive sword. Additionally the blades themselves can be heat charged, increasing their already formidable cutting power.

A totally new weapon is a massive set of claws usuable by the Phoenix while in Bird Mode, giving it a form of attack aside from the Burning Fire.

Also improved are the Phoenix’s feather bits, turned into Phoenix Bits. These bits, while similar to the feather funnels in standard use, truly shine when used as part of one of the Phoenix’s new super attacks; the Phoenix Storm. Each of the bits will glow brilliant red, becoming sheathed in red energy identical to the Burning Fire, and fling themselves at the enemy in kamikaze ramming attacks, capable of damaging even Gundanium.

The Red Phoenix’s second new super attack, is the Phoenix Flare. A powerful attack only useable in the mobile suit mode, the mega particle cannons are flipped forward in firing mode. While flipped forward energy charges up between them, before firing a massive burst of energy.
