Situated on the eponymous island, the Corsica base occupies much of the scenic island’s rolling fields on the northeastern side, running from Bastia in the north to Alto in the south, with the Étang de Biguglia dredged out and turned into a very large harbor for Alliance Navy vessels. The dimensions of the base are staggering considering its location, and aside from being a major shipping terminus and naval dock yard, it also hosts the Alliance’s foremost spaceport in Europe along with factories for the production of mobile suits.

Most of the base’s defenses are focused along the steeply-climbing hills behind the base, peeking out from behind rock outcroppings and stippling the heights in concrete bunkers, allowing them to fire out to sea as well as having a commanding perspective over the facility proper. The coastline has been thoroughly excavated along the base’s seaward perimeter, with a thick seawall forming a new coastline. The seawall rises above the general level of the base concourse, and in several stretches is easily tall enough for mobile suits to use as a defensive position. Other weapons are placed around the mouth of the harbor to deny access to enemy amphibious forces. This arrangement does leave some vulnerability to small units attempting to infiltrate from the western side of the island by scaling the island’s low mountains, and mobile suit patrols constantly keep watch over known approaches from that direction.

Built beneath the airstrip complex at the base’s southern end are major assembly facilities that produce many of the Alliance’s basic mobile suits. These remain camouflaged, unlike the rest of the sprawling installation, and completed Leos and Aries are often shipped out on cargo vessels and Navy ships under comparative secrecy. The airfield is large enough to accommodate all manners of transport aircraft as well as space vessels returning from patrol work in orbit and beyond.

The Corsica Spaceport is the Alliance’s main launch facility in Europe, with truss ramp structures rising high into the air above the tips of the nearby hills. As with the other major spaceport in North America, Corsica is commonly the sight of ships blasting skyward, and the facility is often busy 24/7 with incoming and outgoing traffic.

Present: Continuing their aggression against the ESA, the Corsica base was another victim to Kale Armistad’s vendetta against the world power. The base itself is completely destroyed with no structures or defenses remaining.
