DT-4400 is one of the Atlantic Federation’s well-known armored trains that makes continuous runs across Africa, transporting raw materials from mines and wells to Lake Victoria’s hungry mobile suit factories and returning with completed mobile suits for Atlantic Federation bases. It is typically escorted by two Tenzan-class land battleships, the General Santander and General Moreno, both named after influential members of the South American independence movement.
DT-4400 itself is typical of Federation armored trains, with a reactor-powered locomotive at each end and a number of heavily armed carriages in the consist. A number of carriages are specially designed to transport mobile suits for defensive purposes, rather than as cargo, with each storing two in a prone position and thick retractable roofs allowing them to stand up from inside and fire at outside targets.
