Though initially written off as a dead-end design, Scarth Maheart’s success with the experimental Geo-GOOhN led HRL engineers to look closer at the design. Using Maheart’s own combat data, the end result was a mobile suit designed to be a full fledged combat unit, boasting greatly enhanced abilities and armaments.
The most visible enhancement to the TERRA-GOOhN is the addition of an improved scale system, allowing the mobile suit to “swim” through loose soil and sand without having to dig. Additionally when it does have to dig, the physical abilities of the mobile suit has been increased, the unit easily on par with a Tieren in terms of strength, if not stronger.
New additions to its weapons include an extra pair of Phonon Masers, built into each of the GOOhN’s palms. Mounted further down on the still wedge-shaped torso are a new set of multi-launchers, able to equip a variety of munitions including Scale Torpedoes (designed to go through even densely packed earth), Micro-Missiles, Net Launchers (strong enough to tangle up even a Tieren), and a set of armor piercing Schneider Harpoons. The last of its new toys, is the addition of a massive hardened alloy “fin” jutting out of the GOOhN’s back, allowing it to stick the blade out of the ground ala a shark’s fin, effective as a slashing weapon when used with the scale system.
While not as exciting as having a new set of guns to play with, the TERRA-GOOhN boosts two major features in terms of sensors and communications that the Geo-GOOhN lacked. With its Hyper Acoustic Transmitter the TERRA-GOOhN is capable of communicating flawlessly with above surface comrades. This newfound gift of gab is accompanied by a powerful sonar system that allows the pilot to accurately locate and identify objects as far out as 2 kilometers away by sound alone.
