Map

The map of the Earth Sphere is divided into three types of area. Territories, Locations, and Compounds. Locations exist inside Territories, and Compounds can exist inside Locations or Territories. It is only possible to move from one area to an adjacent area. For example, Side 4 is a Location inside the Territory 2 days from Earth, and Texas Colony is a Compound in Side 4. It takes one move action to move from 2 days from Earth to Side 4, and then another action to move from Side 4 to Texas Colony. The reverse is also true.

Clicking on the map above will toggle between the Space map and the Earth map.

Territory List

Earth Sphere
0 days from Earth
1 day from Earth
2 days from Earth
3 days from Earth
4 days from Earth
5 days from Earth

Note: The Asteroid Belt, Mars Sphere and Jupiter Sphere have their own territory lists, but as these are not of severe importance to the RPG, they are listed on the message board.

Locations List

Earth: North America, South America/Straight of Magellan, Arctic, Antarctic, South Africa, Europe, North Africa, Middle East, East Asia/Oceania, Australia

0 days from Earth: Earth Orbit
1 day from Earth: Side 7
2 days from Earth: Side 5
3 days from Earth: Moon, Side 1, Side 2, Side 4, Side 6, L5
4 days from Earth: Side 3
5 days from Earth: Deep Space

Earth
Earth operates a little differently from other territories. You can never just be on "Earth", you are always on one of Earths locations. Earth locations can only be travelled to from the Earth Orbit location at 0 days from Earth. Earth orbit is considered to be adjacent to every location on the Earth map, although there are certain restrictions on moving through Earth Orbit.

Note: Because the Earth is a sphere and the map is a rectangle, what is adjacent to what at the edges is not properly shown. North and South America, Australia and East Asia are all adjacent to one another. North Africa, Europe, South and North America are also all adjacent.

Earth Orbit
In order to leave Earth and enter Earth Orbit, mobile suits must be on a compound equipped with a Spaceport. If so, they can move directly to Earth Orbit with a single action. The reverse is also true; when a mobile suit moves from Earth Orbit to Earth, they move directly to a friendly controlled compound with a spaceport. Space Ships can move on and off bases with spaceports this same way, although they cannot move around on Earth, merely dock in the bases drydock.

Universal ships and (O) class mobile suits can move directly from Earth Orbit to any Location or Compound on Earth, bypassing the need for a spaceport. However, in order to leave Earth and enter Earth Orbit, they must still use a spaceport in the same fashion.

Universal ships equipped with M Craft Compressors (Pegasus class ships) can enter Earth Orbit from any location or compound on Earth freely, bypassing the need for spaceports entirely.

Sides 1/4 and 2/6
Two groups of Sides, Sides 1 and 4, and Sides 2 and 6, orbit each other around the same Lagrange point. For this reason, it is possible to move between Sides 1 and 4, and between Sides 2 and 6, with a single action, bypassing moving through the territory 3 days from Earth.

Weather
Locations on Earth are sometimes plagued with bad weather, which hinders combat of any variety. Weather for each location will be determined once a week, and noted on the passworded Side boards. Just because one location is experiencing bad conditions doesn't mean you will be caught in it, but it's better to be prepared than try your luck.

Deep Space
Finally, it's possible to go from 5 days from Earth to Mars, the Asteroid Belt or Jupiter if you are on a ship. This is not something you're expected to do regularly, so rules for this are listed on the message board.

Location Descriptions

Earth: Quite a bit worse off than it is today. Battles are raging constantly, with sides gaining and losing territories by the week.

Earth locations

West Arctic - This location covers the arctic circle, Greenland and most of Canada.
East Arctic - This location essentially covers Siberia
North America - This section covers southern Canada all the way down to the edge of the USA.
South America - This area covers all of Central America, the Carribean, and South America down to the fridgid southern tip. The Andes mountains run along the spine of the western part, but the rest is pretty tropical.
Antarctic and Strait of Magellan - Magellans Strait is pretty cold, and Antarctica is an icy wasteland.
South Africa - This is the safari area of Africa. Pretty temperate, slightly tropical, most regions can be found here.
North Africa - This region covers all of that giant, dry, desert area.
Central Asia - This location covers everything East of the Bosphorus going into the arctic regions of Russia or tropical regions of China. Mostly highland.
Europe - This covers western and Eastern Europe, as well as Greenland. This is all pretty temperate area.
East Asia and India - All the jungles and rice paddies of Asia are found here. In addition, this also includes a good part of the pacific.
Australia - This location includes the wasteland that is Australia following Operation British, as well as part of the pacific and New Zealand.

Space Locations

Earth Orbit: Just outside Earth's atmosphere. This region is relatively clean, due to the fact that most debris from destroyed war machines quickly fall through the atmosphere and burn up. Beware of combat here; smaller craft, chiefly fighters and mobile suits, run the risk of being caught by gravity and falling to their doom.

Side 7: Something of a misnomer of a Side, Side 7 was just beginning construction when the Earth Federation decided to halt the production of new colonies. With only a single bunch of two operable colonies, Green Noah and Green Oasis do not really deserve the name of a full fledged Side. Still under the control of the Earth Federation, the 2 Colonies of Side 7 were equipped with boosters and moved into Federation held space following the Lourm campaign, and are now used as a testing base for new Federation weaponry.

Side 5: This colony cluster was once home to the Federation's strongest supporters in space; now, it too is a shoal zone. Side 5 probably fared the worst of all the sides during the war, being completely devoid of operable colonies, with the exception of the half dead Texas Colony.

Sides 1, 2, and 4: Once home to billions of people, these nearly empty colony clusters have been decimated by the Zeon's nuclear fire during the Lourm Campaign in January, UC 0079. Though about ten percent of the colonies still function, most have been broken open. The entire region is mostly shoal zone with thousands of drifting debris making navigation by large vessels dangerous.

Side 6: This is the largest intact colony cluster between Earth and the moon. Side Six declared itself neutral months before the war began, and was thusly spared any aggression by the Zeon during the disastrous Lourm Campaign. As this side is neutral and mostly pacifistic, combat of any kind is strictly prohibited. However, soldiers from both sides are free to spend their leave here. Severe penalties apply to any individuals who chose to continue the war within Side Six airspace.

L5: The colony clusters orbit the Earth in 5 gravitational "Lagrange points". These are areas in which there is a gravitational equilibrium, allowing objects of large mass to maintain their orbits indefinitely. Following the Lourm campaign, the colonies of Side 7 were equipped with boosters and moved out of L5 and closer to Earth. Currently the region of L5 is completely empty.

Moon: The moon was a lifeless rock up until about forty years ago when Von Braun City was first built by the Colony Corporation. The Zeon have a medium-sized base here where they test weaponry in a low-gravity environment.

Side 3: The home of Fascism in the Universal Century. Side Three is the Zeon Duchy's homeland, and a huge colony cluster to boot. In possession of over 120 closed cylinder colonies, Side Three is also the most heavily populated colony cluster. The Zeon capital colony, Zum City, houses the Zabi Castle, where the Hitleresque Zabis command their armies.

Deep Space: The Earth Sphere is only so large. Interplanetary transport is not uncommon in the Universal Century, the farther away from the Earth Sphere you travel, the more it turns into an inhospitable frontier. Space becomes barren and cold, and travel without a well supplied ship is impossible.
