Not speaking except for some short commands over the radio system, Ritter is cut off from everyone completely. The one exception to this policy of mental isolation would be his brief run-ins with other Newtypes. While not sure what it was he felt, a Federation Soldier onboard a Salamis had the grace of his company. Ritter’s fist had gripped the man’s neck tightly as the red glow of his eyes looked at him in confusion. It was his first encounter with another newtype face to face and the only variation in his behavior so far.
History: Towards the end of the 21st Century, corruption and economic problems in the Central Europe country of the Czech Republic had reached a breaking point. Continuation of corrupt officials filling government offices with the under qualified and an influx of gypsies living off government money had put the budget billions into the red. Pushed by heavy taxes to fix the economic crisis, the rising cost of living in the area, and theft by the gypsy population native Czechs found themselves in economic hard times and living off credit and loans. Companies closed or moved during the Gypsy riots of 2077-78, cutting off the livelihood of the working class and pushing them into poverty.
Pushed by collection agency and the rumors of deaths and torture they encouraged to reclaim money, a large percentage of the population fled the country. Between 2081 and 0025 half of the country’s residents would leave for space. Among them would be Ritter’s ancestors, early settlers on the first completed space colony of Shangri-La. Almost all of those who fled the Czech Republic for space would adopt the surname of Novosad, meaning ‘New Land’ or ‘New Settler’, out of fear from collectors and debts from the past. In the early years of the colony everything was supplied. Many of the settlers would abandon their children at a young age, leaving them to fend for themselves. Ritter’s mother and father in their early teenage years would give birth to Ritter before both leave the decaying colony in 0052 and becoming citizens of Side 3.
His parents had him young and were out of his life at a young age as well. His upbringing was thanks to a few benignant hearts on the colony that took a liking to the young Ritter. At the age of 16, Ritter immediately enlisted in the Zeon Military Force. Over the next two years he would work for the safety of Side 3, tending to several tasks and positions within the colony, his record would show him to be like many others before him. His jobs would cover the colonies customs inspection, public safety tasks, and general services to the community. After two years he would be moved to His service record accumulated a varied list of experiences including riot squad, demolitions, light spec ops, customs, and immigration.
Two years later, in the year 0076, the now 18 year old Ritter Novosad would begin his active military service within the Zeon Military Force. Removed from his duties as a safety officer, Ritter began his academy training. Marksmanship, demolitions, tactics, riot squad, and heavy weapons were among the list of modular training he found himself completing. Little knowledge was given to him during his stay at the school, expecting to be assigned to a ship and serve with those leaving much sooner than himself, Ritter was unaware of his own selection during his training into the Zeon Military Force’s Panzergrenadier division. The memories of the academy became blurry to him. The psychological exams they scheduled had in fact been aimed to remove or numb emotions and brainwash him. By the 20th anniversary of his birth, he would become one of the obedient red eyed dogs. A Panzergrenadier. His generation would be the last under Lady Kycillia. Following the genocide acts he would commit by gassing the colonies in the One Week War, Ritter Novosad and the rest of his pack would be abandoned by Kycillia by the end of the month.
Although disbanded, many squads stood at the ready waiting for orders and refusing to disperse. Gihren would step in to replace Ritter’s missing owner. Among those reenlisted as a part of the SS and Gihren’s personal task force, his future had started to feel more secure. Nine months later, the Panzergrenadier squad would find themselves not in space but in Europe, about to become part of the power struggle that would decide the fate of the Earth Sphere.
