Appearance:
Ferusha has lavender hair down to her shoulderblades, but prefers to keep it up in a neat bun on the top of her head, occasionally accented by a white scrunchy. Her honey brown eyes are wide and attentive, her nose small and round and her lips plump and a light shade of pink.
Her casual dress consists mostly of suits, both with pants and skirts of all colours and styles. She very rarely dresses in jeans and a t-shirt, and only can be seen once in a blue moon in sleepwear.
History:
Ferusha was born on Side 5 to a married couple enamored with the Zabi family. Her parents quickly went to passing on their shared enthusiasm to their only daughter, who absorbed their ideals like a sponge. They would read speeches spoken by the then young Gihren Zabi to her as bedtime stories. Ferusha even recalls her mother bowing to the old flag of the Republic, her hands clasped together in prayer.
At school she was constantly reprimanded for expressing the radical ideals that her parents taught her, so much so that she was eventually asked to leave in fear she would persuade her classmates to think the same way. Her mother and father caused a ruckus about the school demanding their daughter be denied the education she desired, and threatened to homeschool her in Side 5. Reluctantly, Ferusha was allowed to attend school once more, as she later heard from her teacher: “We shouldn’t punish her with exposure to garbage.”
Ferusha learned to stay silent in class, even though her urge to speak up against the Federation was strong. She eventually made several close friends that she held dear to her throughout elementary, despite her different beliefs. She strongly believed that space should be controlled by the ones who lived there, and not by those still clinging to the Earth like small, pathetic children.
Her beliefs weren’t the only things getting her in trouble. When she entered her first year of middle school, she felt something was wrong with her. There was a girl in her class, Candy, which she could not stop thinking about, day or night, and she couldn’t figure out why. She desperately wanted to tell someone, but she feared her friends might not accept her for whatever reason. She stayed silent, and watched the beautiful girl with the long, blond hair from the other side of the classroom throughout middle school.
On November 13th, 0073 UC, Ferusha was pulled from school. Her mother and father were fed up with living on Side 5 and moved practically overnight to Side 3, where Ferusha was greeted by relatives she never knew she had. Despite now living in a colony cluster where her ideals wouldn’t be viewed as “radical bullshit”, she felt she had left something very precious back at Side 5 that she couldn’t reclaim.
To fill up the hole of loss, Ferusha focused on school and passed her years in solitude with not a single friend she felt worthy enough to socialize with. She felt, no, she knew she left all friends back on Side 5. This realization hurt more than anything she’d ever felt, and for the first time in her life, felt truly, very lonely.
Once graduating from high school, she was recruited into the military and offered to join the Mobile Assault Force in a Zaku II F. While at first skeptical about joining the war, she knew she had to put forth her efforts if Zeon were to ever control space. Her patriotic views clashed with her lingering emotions attached to Side 5, but were quickly squashed when the Battle of Loum occurred and destroyed any hopes she harbored of returning home.
As the war progressed, she gradually delved back into patriotic ways and became completely aligned with the Principality of Zeon by the time she entered the war. Despite her liking of space, she was sent down to Earth to fight for what, she believed, was a righteous cause.
Personality Profile:
Ferusha can be a mix of different things. She holds high standards for herself and her peers, which leads her to often look down her nose at pilots and mechanics who do not take the war effort as seriously as she’d like them to. Among men, she sees herself as an equal and practically demands upfront that she be treated as such. Among women, she tries to keep her distance and refuses to socialize outside of work with them. Rumours sprung up that she does this to lower her chances of getting involved romantically with them; others say she does it to further her chances to successfully flirting with men. Ferusha prefers neither to deny nor confirm their suspicions, despite knowing herself she prefers women.
The only female she considers a friend is her mechanic Clara, whom at one time she developed feelings for. After several years of working side-by-side, Ferusha sees Clara more as a sister than a potential love interest despite Ferusha's waving emotions between friendship and love. Clara is oblivious to her pilot's possible interest, as she is straight herself.
