Markos wasn't an extraordinary citizen of the Principality of Zeon. He was, however, an incredibly hard working student, as well as a patriot.
Once the Principality was declared, Markos immediately signed up for the MS Corp, not out of a sense of wanting to adventure, or go to war, but because it was his Civic Duty. A believer in freedom from tyranny (and the Federation certainly is a tyranny), he also believes that fighting for that freedom is what makes a citizen.
Personality:
Reserved, more prone to be reading the works of Machiavelli, Socrates, or even classic literature as opposed to the usual carousing that other pilots tend to feature.
Stalwart and Loyal not only to Cause and Country, but also to his fellow pilots, especially those he serves with on Earth. His belief is that by taking the war to Earth, and making a strong stance there, that it would be the best course for Freedom and Liberation of Zeon from Federal Oppression.
