I'm gonna keep this running over the weekend, I'd really like to have a reasonable number of votes.
Naruto looks sad, though.

We've had FFA's. I'd like a tournament for a change. And yeah, I'd like a Naruto Tournament as well. If people are saying they're not familiar with Naruto, I'd say just make it stats based. We'll have to do that anyways.
Also, the song Isaiah posted "Wind" is something I hated when I first heard, but it totally grew on me. I really like that song now. I have it on me playlists too.

But I have no idea what naruto stats mean. I've tried reading through Ket's rules, I estimate it'll take me 2-3 days to get a comprehensive understanding.
There's hundreds of jutsus, and asking people to spend hours to plan out a 100 point character just to do one tournament, when they already have a busy life (holidays, OYW planning, work, school, what have you) is just absurd.
It's like making someone read all the rulebooks for D&D/Exalted/WoD/what have you, and only playing one game session.

Compromise - Naruto FFA?
I mean, hell, we already did a super robot one...
edit - I'm also somewhat swayed by the POV in the other thread about trivia. Nobody ever complains about trivias being unfair, despite the fact that they're consistently dominated by a regular handful of people. Those are, to a degree, many of the same people now complaining about a tournament being unfair?
I actually think it should stay an FFA just to keep things simple, but I certainly don't think "I don't know Naruto" is entirely a legitimate complaint, given that there are PLENTY of other instances where specific, non-universal knowledge has given some players an advantage over others.

It isn't just about not know Naruto, it's also about not knowing the RPG system which he was talking about using. Even if people do know Naruto, not everyone was involved with that Naruto RPG.

While I guess it could be argued that we have to look at this from the idea that OYW is a game based within an RPG community, OYW itself is a game dedicated to Gundam. It's fair to assume people would have a basic or experienced knowledge of Gundam, and be able to perform adequately in the trivia challenges. It's not fair to assume people will have a basic (and indeed, working) knowledge of a Naruto RPG Ketara ran, or the series upon which it was based. Just because they're both anime doesn't mean they go hand in hand.
If it's just a Naruto FFA, where everything is random and none of the stats or ninja powers will affect the outcome, I think a Naruto FFA would be fun and entertaining for people. I'd probably just scroll down to the end and see if I won, like I did that SRW FFA, since I have no prior knowledge or interest in the subject. But that doesn't really bother me. What would bother me is if I'm getting pushed out of possible contention in a OYW-based RPG FFA, for not knowing about what might as well be the laws of micro thermodynamics to me.
And to negate what I said above, let's totally do a Poke'mon tournament. That would be so cool.

A purely stat-based system, however, is relatively simple and requires very little time/effort to learn. It's also fair to assume that people playing an RPG can manage to figure out some semblance of reasonable characters in the FFA - similar to somebody who has a moderate knowledge of Gundam at best, and manages in the trivia because s/he is quick on the ol' google (first-hand experience with THAT). It requires a bit of effort, and has an extant but moderate chance of success - no different than spending 30 minutes making at least basic sense of the stats for a Naruto character.
Really, the main alternative to random FFAs would be like the oldschool ones we used to do where you actually used your own character's MS and VP - but then the pilots that were already the best would always tend to win them anyway, and extend their lead further, and would really screw over most pilots in the game (unlike in the AG games, there's a lot more of an absolute representation of the relative powers of the various mobile suits here).
The point of the whole exercise, I think, is to try and have a non-random setup, and to try and get away from the RobotsRobotsRobots thing for a bit. This is a reasonable exercise.
Edit - screw Pokemon. Futurama FFA. I call Zoidberg.

I don't know if spending even thirty minutes to understand an entirely different anime universe, and an entirely different RPG stat system, are the equivalent of copying and pasting searches into Google. Especially when using Google is independent of the subject matter, and it’s – again – reasonable to assume we all know how to Google, and even if we Google with differing proficiency the skill at least can be applied to any trivia challenge.
It's kind of like having a test in history class, where all the students are expected to know history, only to make them memorize basic times tables a week before the test. The students who were already experienced in math won't have to work as hard for their grade, while those who just came to study history – the reason everybody is in the class – will be at a disadvantage that doesn't make sense in the context of the subject. We're also going to say that all the tests in this class are open book (Google) to make the analogy even more muddied and less effective!
At the same time, you're saying that since we all play games, the basic ideas of grasping simple mechanics can be assumed to be universal? That's fair! I guess my only qualm would be that it still seems to offer an inherent advantage (one, again, I don't see as equaled out by trivias), however small, to people who previously played the Naruto RPGs. But it's not like I can't spare thirty minutes, for a chance to get a Gaw Recon Type. I did, y'know, spend like four hours to make less than 200 RP during the Scavenger Hunt ^_^.
(Speaking of Scavenger Hunts, can we have another during Christmas break? I want a Zanzibar…)
Anyways, Jon swayed me. Variety is good. I'm totally down for a non-robot FFA. But it should be Poke'mon, because Naruto is stupidface, and just about nobody likes Futurama.

On another note, yeah, you really shouldn't be championing the 'too burdensome for too little gain' cause. =P Side note - really thought UCLA had a shot at Barnes, too. Feh. BTW, the Youtube link is down. I'm assuming it's a link either to Wall, or to S. Poole?
