Command Abilities of Finus Yamamoto

What we know about Unt. Yamamoto is limited to 5 sorties, in only two of which did Unt. Yamamoto see combat. From these engagements we have noted that has a profound effect on those under his command. He has shown multiple command abilities that would be advantageous for the Duchy of Zeon to further utilize.

Intimidation

Analysis of combat data shows that Unt. Yamamoto exhibits strong command presence, increasing the reaction times and general efficiency of those under his command by 10-25% compared with average soldiers. Our data suggests this is also due to the strict training regimen he forces his soldiers to undergo. This is comparable to other SS officers.

Loyalty

The subordinates of Unt. Yamamoto have 20-30% greater loyalty as well as 15-25% increased respect for his command than the normal SS officer. It is Intelligence's theory that this is due purely to a combination of looks, rapid ascension in rank, and custom mobile suit.

Combat Leadership

Unt. Yamamoto is one of the quickest thinking officers in the military. Although data is limited to 2 engagements, Yamamoto analyzes, forms a plan of action, and can communicate it to his men in under 3 seconds. His quick thinking has led to two Zeon victories. Intelligence is split on whether Unt. Yamamoto is fit for command. Many believe he thinks too quickly, and puts everyone at risk with his haste. However, as long as Unt. Yamamoto continues to be victorious, this concern will vanish.

Piloting Ability

Unt. Yamamoto is a green pilot, with 2 confirmed kills in 2 combat engagements. However, his defense of a supply convoy and defeat of an advanced Federal mobile suit later identified as a mass-production type Gundam earned him special merit and an astonishing 3 rank promotion. His best piloting attributes are his quick reflexes and maneuverability, both of which are 20% higher than normal recruits. Also, he rarely stands still in combat, boasting a much higher movement percentage than other recruits. Of course, he has an equivalently high fuel consumption ratio as well.

New Mobile Suit

Unt. Yamamoto has been assigned a new unit, the 07B-3 Gouf Custom. He has been assigned this MS to bring back invaluable combat data on the Gouf's augmented weapon systems. So far he has satisfactorily tested the 75mm gatling and the heat wire in his only combat engagement with his new unit. Data on the other weapon systems, armor, and other subsytems will be gathered during future engagements.

Unanswered Questions

Unt. Yamamoto is considered a wild card. Intelligence has very little information on his past other than that he grew up on Side 3 and attended Neo Toudai University for three semesters. What we do know is that a year before war broke out he spent 8 months in Northern Japan with relatives.

After returning from Japan, he immediately enlisted in the military, went through basic training, and became a pilot. Some in Intelligence believe it to be highly suspicious that he enlisted as soon as he returned. For this reason Unt. Yamamoto's motives and past history is currently being investigated.

Conclusion

Unt. Yamamoto continues to be closely watched by Intelligence. We have stationed an operative close to Yamamoto to keep an eye on him. This precaution has also been taken to alleviate concerns in Intelligence that Unt. Yamamoto is an ESF sympathizer and/or spy. However it is the general opinion of this report that Unt. Yamamoto is a good pilot and commander well suited for the SS. Should Unt. Yamamoto continue to perform above expectations we recommend he be given increased responsibilities in line with his combat performance.
