Gildas splashes into the water as you join the boarders.
It's a pretty even battle, until you arrive. There must be 20 men fighting that you can see - the rest obscured under the gundeck.
With a rush of adrenaline, you crouch and cut some poor saps' legs off. The irony satisfies you. You grab his pistol and shoot another. You grab his cutlass and gut a third. [+1 Pistol, +1 Pegleg, +1 Sword]
With your addition, the top deck is secured.
Available to you are the captain's cabin, which has been penetrated, the bodes of 20 marines + their weapons (musket, cutlass), a few top cannon and Gildas' men at your beck and call.
"What's happened with the ship?"
The men look to the Escape, the sails catching fire. A few scream and go to try and put out the flames. The boatswains, the cartographer, and cabin boys mostly.
15 men remain. Do you secure the boat or rescue the Escape?

"The Escape is lost! Secure the ship, boys! We've got a new one!" I grab the nearest crewman. "We've got to save Gildas. He's in the water." We frantically search for him, and when one of us finds him, we dive in after him.

The men rally. 10 head below deck to secure the gundeck and reinforce the men already down there.
The remaining 5 jump carefully into the water, mindful of the reef. You look over the side of the boat, concerned.
Gildas has been caught by stray rigging. The men rescue him.
"Send down a dingy," they say.
You push off one of the Man-Of-War's dingys and watch it splash into the water. The men pull Gildas onboard. He is safe, though injured.
There seems to be a problem in the gundeck. A head comes flying by you. It is one of your men.
Do you dare challenge the source?
You may pick up one item if you choose to fight:
Double pistols
Musketoon
Volley Gun
Double cutlass

You pick up two cutlass and unshealth your peg. What a grievous fate awaits your opponent!
You fight your first nemesis, an old one that has troubled you since the hospital.
Stairs!
Hobble by hobble, you make your way half way down, then tumble.
With skill, you manage to avoid killing yourself with all those blades. (+1 Sword, +1 Peg)
You can see a monster of a marine fighting Gildas' men. He brandishes an oversized war hammer.
"YOU BASTARDS KILLED MY FRIENDS!" He says, swinging into a druid. "MY FATHER," yet another. "AND MY CAPTAIN!" He crushes a skull.
Four men stand at your side, fearful to engage the enraged marine. They begin to hide behind you.
"YOU'RE NEXT!" he says, pointing the hammer at you. "COME IF YOU DARE!"

"I suppose diplomacy is out of the question, then, brother?" I motion to the nearest druid with a pistol. "Shoot him."
Then, I charge, motioning the men to join me. "For Gildas! For the Druides Escape!"

A mortified druid fires, hitting a cannon.
"The hell were you aiming for, buddy?"
A flying war hammer impales the druid against the wall. He sputters blood and dies.
"CHARGE!" you exclaim. You rush the man, who grabs a barrel.
You start with one cutlass, swinging it down to cut him; it becomes embedded in the barrel. He throws the barrel, knocking you off your feet. A druid throws a dagger, catching him in the shoulder. You prey on this opportunity, stabbing him with your peg while you're on the floor. You kick away the barrel with your good leg and right yourself, pulling a cutlass from a dead druid.
In a flurry of slashes, you whirl and cut the man over and over again. (Learned new move, Whirlpool Slash (Badass!))
He spits blood and goes for his hammer. He tosses a druid at another, leaving only you and your friend who threw the dagger on your feet. He pulls his hammer out of the dead one and holds it.
The man is alive, but not well to fight. If you simply ignored him, he might pass out.
"Come on then.. you killed my father, my friends, my captain - but you haven't taken me yet! And when that brig gets here, you're dead."
He takes a step towards you.
"Say the word and I'll give him my mercy," your friend says, a dagger ready to throw.

"Trust me; mercy gets you nothing but headaches. We can't afford it." I strike at the man's throat.

You gut the honorable marine. He screams, spurting blood all over your face from his throat.
You bask in the blood, enjoying its warm shower.
That's one dream down the drain.
The ship is secure! And all yours. The other druids have rigged the dingy to put Gildas onboard. The dingy makes it to the topdeck and is unloaded.
The Druides' Escape explodes! Shrapnel pours across the deck - but more dangerously, burning embers eat the sails! There are two of three left. The Escape sinks to Davy Jones' locker.
The druids shield Gildas in their cloaks. Your survivors have survived again. The remaining men are particularly hardy. Whatever men were preserving the ship died immediately, including that cartographer and your Doc.
You hobble up the stairs onto the deck. Your eyes seem to be glowing...
The brig is in firing range! But none of the cannon on this ship are loaded. Embers lick at the wood.
You have 8 druids, an unconscious Gildas, and every weapon you could imagine.
What do you do?

"Men! Man the cannon! We have but one enemy standing between us and the free seas! We cannot run, but we can fight! Let's show 'em hell!"
I toss Gildas a piece of taffy and some alcohol, and rush to help with the cannons.

Your taffy and alcohol bottle hits Gildas in the face. He is motionless. (+1 Being A Dick)
Your nine functional members man four cannons. The 8 load and prepare the top ones, aiming for the brig, while you walk with the fuse. You strike it to your peg and light each one, one by one.
"FIRE!" Boom.
"FIRE!" Bang.
"FIRE!" Dud. Aww.
"FIRE!" Boom.
The three successful cannons strike the side of the ship. It is closing fast - the giant ship seems twice the size of your vessel. If it hits you, it'll split the ship in half, not flip it over.
It looks familiar to you.. on the front, you can see the word "KIRCHER." Was it not the vessel you were contracted to sail?
It raises British colors. You notice the Man-Of-War has yet to raise its own; including a red pennant declaring superiority. You could play this off as being the Captain of this Man-Of-War... Dutch as you look.

"Quick! Everyone, dress as marines and prepare a sloop! Someone dress Gildas and the wounded as well, but leave the dead!"
I quickly grab trade clothes with a marine who appears to be the same size as me, and raise the red flag, waiting for the Kircher ship's reaction.

The lot of you drag a few Marines into the gundeck and begin the strip the poor corpses.
You end up decked out in the late captain's uniform.
Your men as various sailors and Marines.
Gildas recieves the clothes of the massacred blacksmith-Marine you gutted.
Acting quickly, you raise your flag and pennant, declaring superiority over the ship.
The brig turns harshly, tapping the Man-Of-War and sending it rocking. You barely manage to not be flung overboard.
You are being hailed.
"WHAT'S THE NEWS?"

"A few brigands is all!" I shout, clutching the bloodiest part of my uniform as if wounded. "I've lost half my men trying to take their ship, and a quarter more when the dogs blew it up!" I murmur to the men around me to be ready with the cannon if things go sour.
"Still got enough to sail, though. We'll be able to make it back to England to re-crew!"

"STAND BY!" the hailer says.
The brig tosses some rigging to the ship, securing them together.
The grab stops the Man-Of-War from rocking. Some men zipline over.
They are all holding blunderblusses.
"Alright, boys. Into the captain's cabin and no one gets hurt."
"SHIP SECURE!" the hailer yells back to the brig. The rigging slacks as the brig lets go.
You have invited pirates onto your vessel. Do you cooperate?
