Gildas takes a hood from one of his men and fits it around you.
"This will aid our escape."
The group goes out the back door of the hearty parrot. You can hear the marines discover their dead commander. Gildas is swift, but waits for you at each turn, never getting too far.
"I'm glad you are on your feet again. Your treatment was a fortune."
"More or less the same, give or take a leg."
"I like the sword. You remind me of a friend of mine, Luke." Gildas replies.
Luke. The turtle fisher?
You reach a public pier, and down it you can clearly recognize the Druides Escape. It is impressive and amazing, the sails well tended, the boat well staffed, the wood polished and barnacle free.
"We must leave at once. The British will punish Havana for their dead commander."

I keep following Gildas onto the boat, and show him the plans for the underwater suit at the first opportunity.

You keep following Gildas onto the boat.
The druids hike the sails, grab the oars, and send the boat sailing out of port in under 30 minutes.
~
On the open sea, you feel safer. Havana was a dangerous place. You think of the people you left behind - Anna, James, Lee Majors, the Kirchers, Luke. Perhaps you'll see them again.
You, the doctor and Gildas talk over a blueprint in the captain's cabin. Giovanni Borelli's blueprint is spread over the table.
Gildas is arguing with you.
"I tell you, we simply can't afford the resources to drop prize metal and glass into the sea."
"It's a diving suit! It'll enable us to wreck wonderfully!"
"I am not a wrecker, I am a patriot. We will sail to Boston, then to Ireland. A fleet of ships is going to take Dublin. Did we kill this prick?"
Your argument is cut short.
"Sir!" a young hood exclaims. "We are being followed!"
The Doc stays in the cabin, working on the blueprints. You and Gildas head to the tail of the ship, and sure enough, three ships are following you.
There are two British Man-Of-Wars at 1/2 mile, and another larger ship at 1 mile.
You could pile on sail to escape, engage, or something else entirely. Even if you try to escape, they will still be able to follow you to Boston.

"We can take those Man-Of-Wars no problem, but it's the third ship I'm worried about. I don't know my friend, I could go either way."

"Well, if you think we can outrun them and get better-outfitted for battle, let's do that. Otherwise, we might as well fight them here, yes? Is there any chance we could ground the larger ship on a nearby shoal?"

Gildas calls over a druid. This one seems different than the others - weaker, more scholarly.
"This is my cartographer. He has a map of the nearby reefs. If we head towards key west, we can ground the ships and let the wreckers have them."
You nod and the ship turns harshly.
The first man-of-war closes in. Not waiting, it unleashes a full salvo of cannons. With 40 guns a ship, it's an impressive display. Your ship's maneuvering keep it out of harm's way, so it's little more than fireworks.
"The reef is between us and that Man-Of-War now," the cartographer informs. "It should hit the reef any moment."
Your ship zig zags with expert navigation through shore.
Behind you, the first man-of-war hits the reef hard, tearing a hole in its hull. It sinks quickly, being overloaded with cannon.
The other ship notices the reef, and maneuvers around it. It gathers speed with a favorable wind and closes in on your position. It seems to be positioning for another full broadside. Your ship will be in tatters if it does.
"The cannons are ready," a gunner's mate responds. "What are your orders, Gildas?"
"Daniel is in command. I'll be in the cabin."
Gildas walks to the cabin and closes the door. You can hear it lock.
"Err.. okay. First Mate Daniel? Your orders?" the man looks to you.

"Bring us around out of their line of fire! We can't take a broadside from them! Ready the cannons for a burst! Fire when they're lined up!"

Gildas' men quickly get to work. You can only wonder where the absentee captain is.
Nearby, the mast of the first man-of-war disappears beneath the waves. There must be some kind of underwater trench by the reef.
"Bring us around out of their line of fire! We can't take a broadside from them! Ready the cannons for a burst! Fire when they're lined up!"
The ship uses its oars to move backward; leading to the second man-of-war incorrectly positioning a ways in front of you. It is too late for them, however. A full broadside lands, just feet before you.
Your cannons lock on and fire - being of a higher caliber than a normal cannon they rip through the Man-Of-War. You get a feeling this isn't the first time the ship has been at war since you left.
The Man-Of-War has lost the wind and a few masts from the attack, meaning only you can maneuver now. Its front is positioned in front of the reef, preventing a boarding from that direct, however, if you went around the back.

I look around for the third ship. If it hasn't pursued, then I take the man of war from behind. (Go around the back.)

You look around for the third ship. You can see it, east about a 1/2 mile and closing. It is much slower and won't be in firing range any time soon.
You issue orders and the Druides' Escape makes a large semi-circle, passing over the deep parts of the reef and momentarily putting you in their line of fire. They fire a half salvo, peppering your ship with cannon balls. The cabin's cabin particularly has taken a direct hit. A fire starts up on the ship, but too many people are getting ready to board.
You complete the semi circle and are almost at boarding range. A man passes you a grappling hook - it seems they are all going to board at once. The door of the cabin's cabin is struggling to open - but the lock is secure. What do you do? In a few seconds the ship will ram the Man-Of-War.

I run to the cabin's cabin after shouting encouragement at the men, saying I will join them soon!

You head for the Captain's Cabin, worrying over Gildas.
The door must be barred from the inside. Smoke rises from the hole the cannonball made. Wait, hole?
You use your grappling hook on the opening, swinging of the side of the ship and aiming for a heavy kick.
The added wait of your peg leg causes you to burst through. Boards fly everywhere. You notice fire and smoke has enveloped the Captain.
"Gildas!"
"I am here," he coughs.
You grab him around the waist and head for your makeshift exit. Taking hold of the rope, you rappel back to the ship.
The men have already boarded the Man-Of-War. You can hear them fighting the marines.
A fire envelops the rest of the cabin, starting a raging fire. Gildas' impressive armory causes it to be well fed.
"If it gets to the gunpowder room, we're doomed. To the Man-Of-War, Daniel!"
You look down. Gildas' shoulder seems to have been hit by a cannonball. It seems broken and useless.
"Leave me here. There's no way I'll be able to climb that rope."
He pushes you away.
"Quickly, before the ship explodes!"
You look forward, the ropes leading to the Man-Of-War are straining. You look backward, Gildas leans pained against the Druides Escape.
"GO! AND AVENGE ME!"

I heft Gildas under my arm, and toss him/kick him over the side with my good leg. "Thanks for everything, friend! May we meet again - here, or in hell!"
I join the men assaulting the man o' war. "FOR GILDAS!" I scream.
