Common Familiars
Bat:
A small, black bat that flits about. Not very smart, however; bats tend to be single-minded. They have a great sense of hearing.

Cat: A common house cat that has a cool disposition, but is still tender to its master. Quite smart and can move quietly.

Ferret: Quick and prone to impatience, but loyal companions. Ferrets are smart, but often think too fast for their own good. They like shiney things and are quite agile.

Rat: An everyday rat that is both devious and selfish. Quite intelligent and cunning. Can hear very well and likes to acquire things.

Mouse: Small and cute and quite likeable. They are reasonably smart and can keep a good conversation. They move about quietly.

Lizard: Scaley and seemingly lethargic, though often very level headed. Lizards are suprisingly wise and resilient to spells.

Owl: Proud and very talkative are owls. They are very wise and posses wordly knowledge of Illcara.

Raven: Crafty, creative, and always happy to talk. A raven's intelligence is great. They too know a great deal about Illcara and about the arcane.

Thrush: Cheerful birds that are ever positive. Very clever. Have learned much of Illcara and its natural world.

Sparrow: Also cheerful birds that are ever positive and clever. Have learned much of Illcara in their flights.

Snake: Cunning animals that are cold and logical. Quite smart, though often keep quiet. Their fangs carry potent venom.
Benefit: Increased chance of poisoning enemy for three days in combat. Adds skill "

Hawk: Efficient hunters and clear-minded, if single-minded. Reasonably intelligent as they concoct hunting plans. Their sight is acute and their claws sharp.

Falcon: Efficient hunters and sharp-minded like the hawk. They posses apt intellect, but are not very talkative. Their sight is acute and their claws sharp.

Eagle: Very proud hunters that feel they rule the skies. They have a tendancy to be arrogant and narrowminded, but are intelligent nonetheless. They superior vision and felsh-rending talons like other birds of prey.

Uncommon Familiars
Blink Dog: Magical canines that are very cheerful. They are very smart and loyal to their masters.
Benefit: Uses spell "
Blink" in combat. Mind Speaking with familiar only.
Imp: Small, lesser demons that are mischievious, but manageable unlike their larger, more powerful brethren. Their intelligence varies, but all have a good sense of the arcane. They are the only familiars that can actually speak.
Benefit: +15 to values of combat spells used. Uses spell "

Guardian: A small familiar with one goal in mind: to protect their master at all costs. They are nimble and durable, and fairly quick-witted, though easily distracted as they are ever alert for danger.
