We weren't surprised at all! If Berrik had NOT banned us, it would have been surprising.
That's what I'm saying though. Doing something like that solo, he should have ZERO problems.
I do much more with OYW solo than he ever did with FI, and OYW is soooooooooo much more complicated, and I have way fewer issues. Granted, I have a lot more experience than him, and I don't expect him to do as well as me right away, but he shouldn't have done that poorly. I can tell his heart wasn't in the updating. He wanted the game to run and he wanted to play in it, and he didn't want to update even though he knew he had to. That's what caused the problems.

I'm still confused as to why you did it anyways, but I'll leave that alone. I will admit that I've calmed down since you've admitted there was no malice behind the Big News thing, though.
Perhaps you're right, perhaps there were other reasons for the things you mentioned about updating, I don't really know and it really isn't my place to speculate. Either way, I think it was a good game. But this was a learning experience, and the next run should be vastly improved. I won't stop anyone who doesn't want to come back, but if you want to, you're more than welcome to.
But in any case, FI was the first Gundam RPG that I've been a part of in many years that has ended successfully instead of closing down for one reason or another, so that's something I'm proud of.

Uh...Closing down is just planning to fail in advance.
Or noticing an RPG is stagnant and lost it's appeal and make an announcement to close in a month or two.

Honestly, the game didn't really run well enough to be considered closed successfully, it kinda limped along in its final months... Even with added help to update, Berrik couldn't handle a reduced work load. I have no sympathy for the man, he kept it running and hobbled for some sort of self fulfillment and what not; lord knows why he didn't shut it down sooner... towards the end it really wasn't even his site anymore... You and Kusu are only things that kept it a float, or what was left of it.

My favorite parts of FI:
-The earth movement sytem was too complicated/broken. Berrik didn't care.
-Promised NPC events never happened because Vlad quit and Berrik was too lazy to tell us they weren't going to happen until after we had wasted time/actions setting them up.
-You got more VP and less damage for 'dueling' freindlies than for ambushing enemies. wtf
-Sides were unbalanced: ESA money advantage > everything else
-There was no reason to play for a government. The game devolved into a clusterfuck of teams
-ROGUE BIAS
-Berrik changing rules midway
-All rules not being posted (MS from bases can attack you just for being in the same territory- wtf)
-Berrik's character winning every engagement he was in.

A few things that disappointed me. - Traveled all the way to observation post and Berrik through out super new boss with know reason or warning. I can let that go though - I spend the next 8 updates upgrading only for my upgrade to be late and miss out on actually taking part in killing the thing. That kinda bugged me. -And finally last event I was in was the D.O.M.E. attack thats never gonna get written. It's kinda lolz But there were great times. Early VH days were awesome and that attack on the Carrier Group was epic. Vlad can write some awesome shit. all and all it proved to be fun even if it had some bumps. Also lulz for never once dying.

The only thing i liked about Fi was: Getting a Strike Gundam to have a nuke reactor with NJC's. I felt quite accomplished.

He kept it running because he wanted the "longest running PBEM RPG"
By that logic, MSG Wars was the longest running. It also had a lot of the same problems towards the end iirc.
I close my games when the momentum peters out, because I'd rather people have memories of a good game that they wish lasted longer, than memories of a bad game that they wish ended sooner.
At this point, we've been open almost 1/3rd the time, and we've already done more RPing than FI did in the entirety of its run, and at the current rate in a month or so we'll have had more battles too.

-There was no reason to play for a government. The game devolved into a clusterfuck of teams Not until he gave government teams a money boost for owning territory and then showed everyone it was okay to build factories of elite units that came with pilots worth more than the units did originally. :p I thought the movement system on Earth was alright; it was space that was poorly explained. Considering FI had a lot more zones than OYW does, moving two regions in one day was about the same distance as one region in OYW. The difference is that FI route planning is a little more complex and sometimes allowes for less-predictable routes.
