Realistic Pirate CYOA

You take a judge of character. You spied a pistol as he passed, a cigar on his lips as he talked, and a sheath on his belt. Your mother would never let you consort with these folk.

These shady types aren't worth your time - but neither are rich wreckers. You head for the tavern, in search of information.

You're on Duval Street, a street of taverns and a world of drunkards. The scent of alcohol reminds you of home, and a pang of longing hangs in your chest.

There's the "Red Rabbit", a tavern whorehouse, "Pirate's Den", self explanatory, "Royal Palace", a fancy restaurant frequented by high society, officers and their marines, and finally, "Thieves Garden", a mysterious place with a Celtic Rune on the door.

The Thieves' Garden is less of a tavern and more of a house.

You knock on the door hoping to enter, and sure enough it opens on its own.

A robed figure pokes his head out.

"Three shillings for entry."

"No sovereigns. Shillings or get out of here."

You thumb the half-taffy half-shilling in your pocket..

You fumble with the taffy pieces in your pouch. Taking two out, you discover they're all filled with the money.

"Three shillings.. here you go."

You enter the Thieves Garden. It's pretty desolate, but you can see the big room is well decorated with high society art. Doubtful belonging to the peasant clothed men before you..

There's a skinny man at the bar, some average sized men playing cards, and in the corner, some men in a circle. What's in the middle.. you cannot see.

You casually stroll over to the man at the bar, order some milk, and ask about the large circle.

"Ah. That be the Druid's Circlet. Violate it, and you won't leave alive."

Your white drink arrives quick, and you take a large gulp. You can feel your bones reinvigorate.

"Milk! A fellow brother of the cow!"

The druid raises his white drink to yours.

"The name's Gildas. Pleasure."

He extends his hand for you to shake. You feel a tap on your shoulder. And then at your waist. You turn your head to look.

A small child is looking for a handout.

"Daniel, and the pleasure is mine."

You give the young boy the rest of the pouch of taffy with a wink, cautioning him not to bite down too hard.

He takes the pouch and runs off. What a nice boy.

"So, Daniel. What are you looking for?"

"I'm looking for someone to ask about purchasing sails, ropes, food, and hiring a crew."

"Well, you've come into the right place. I just ripped off a few vessels for the last few months, so I've got some surplus. How much can you afford?"

"No more than any other man down on his luck. Hopefully enough to get me sailing again. What have you got?"

"Just one set of sails and rope. 50 Sovereign. If you're down on your luck, you can help me with a heist tonight... we can split it, 80-20 - and I'll give you whatever you need from my storage."
