That little tiny thing there, is our map of Japan. There are 7 provinces (or areas of the map ), the six on the map, and then the northern island, which is just north of Province 1, or Mutsu. That's not on the map because it's an uncivilized and Barbaric country, where few Japanese ever go, and gods and demons still reign. Fun stuff, huh. Below are a list of the 7 provinces, link to them to read descriptions. |

Province 6 - Honshu Honshu is, essentially, the province of foreigners. There isn't really that much on it but Nagasaki, but oh my god man, Nagasaki! If you were to count the Korean quarter, Chinese quarter, and Christian quarter, not to mention the port, Nagasaki would be way bigger than Kyoto. But the Japanese are elitist and don't count the minorities. Honshu has very little going for it but trade, but the fact that it's the only place where you can buy guns in Japan, and the only province whose clan (Chosobake) uses them, makes it simply kick ass. Remember that it takes one day to travel from any location in Nagasaki to another. Locations Nagasaki - I just spent quite a while explaining it, so I won't very much, but essentially Nagasaki is a bustling trade city on the western end of Shikoku. It was a small trading city till the Chosobake decided that the port should be open to foreigners. Going to great lengths to make them feel welcome, there are actually seperate ghettos for Chinese, Korean, and Christian visitors, where it basically looks like China, or Korea, or Spain. So yeah, Japan, Japan, or Spain. A huge city, it is the Hong Kong of Japan. Locations inside Nagasaki - Korean Quarter - The walled in city-in-a-city for the Koreans, this is the most run down of the 3 quarters, because frankly, the Japanese HATE Koreans. But the blood-drinking, sheep-screwing, dog-eating heathens are good for keeping Chinese silk prices low, so we keep 'em here. Chinese Quarter - This place would be run down if the Chinese merchants weren't rich. Because you see, in Japan, there is no such thing as lying. There is haggling sure, haggling up the wazoo. But people generally don't lie unless their master tells them to. And needless to say a Chinese merchant is one of the most unscrupulous people you could ever come across. Picture mansions from Crouching Tiger if you're in here. There's even a Shao-lin Temple. Christian Quarter - The Quarter for the either much-hated or much-loved Jesuits, the Christian Quarter is basically Spain, with very precious few differences. The Jesuits have lots of money, though most of it isn't Japanese, so this place is fairly nice, and the Conquistadores they have here are fairly nice too. The top Jesuit priest and his bodyguard are treated like kings and are allowed all around Japan, though you won't find any Christian Nihonjins outside Nagasaki (they've been trying to convert old Motochika for years. Isn't working.) Tosa Castle - My favorite Castle, because it has its own ship dock. Damn straight. The walls go straight out into the ocean, and there's a giant, crank driven door (built by western engineers) that house the finest Navy in Japan. Other than that, it's really just a castle. |
